How many of us have actually taken our cars to a real track? Maybe a High Performance Driving Event, drag strip etc. Street racing does not count nor does "I am thinking about going someday."
I've only done the drag thing so far but would like to get into racing with turns. I've got exactly 14 1/4 mile passes and about 40 1/8 mile runs so far in my C6.
About the same # of respondents, but way different results!
.........heck if you post this in the car care section and then the autocross section you will probably get different results too!..........infact if you throw in politics and religion it can make it to the off topic section.....however
.........walking (tracking) and talking (waxing) .........I'll always take the walk over the talk
....but if I don't have to choose I like both Very much
I've done a few road course events, and the car saw it's first autocross course this weekend, but my fiancee got to do the driving there. Need to get some new rubber installed before heading out to the track again. The supercars have seen better days!
From: Austin, Texas Codes 660, 9448, and 295660 work in the C6 navigation unit. No DVD playback yet.
All of our cars see extensive track time (we don't own any SUVs or 4-doors). I've been to 1/4 mile strip, but I don't consider that tracking. It's like owning a John Deere farm tractor and only using it to cut your lawn. It'll do a damn good job at that, but it's capable of doing so much more.
I can't imagine not bringing a car like the Corvette out to the track. If you don't, then you'll never understand where all your money went. There's no way to get anywhere close to the limits of this car on the street. Even if you could get the tires heated up properly (which you can't), you'd have to have a reckless disregard for your own life not to mention those who might stumble into your path.
Like they say " a picture is worth a thousand words", I'd modify that slightly after my trip to Road America.
A picture is worth a thousand smiles:
For those that have never tracked their cars, you should reconsider. You're missing out on some of the most fun you'll ever have with your clothes on.
Tom
You're supposed to wear clothes????
I can't imagine not going to a road course with your C6 at least once, it is one hell of a road racer. Oh well, put another coat of polish on that bad boy
