Some have reported a vauge feeling at/near idle where the power steering feels like the power was killed and the power steering gets "numb" for a second.

Any other aliments sounds like a problem that requires a trip to the dealer.

The front tires on our cars are really big and grippy, turning the steering wheel while stopped takes a lot of hydraulic muscle. That could make the car vibrate a little, or just the scrubbing of the tires on the pavement. Maybe you can find another Z51 to compare.

Default power steering at idle

Funny this topic came up, I've actually felt 4-5 "numb at idle" power steering episodes in the two weeks I've owned my Z51. It's only for a second, and it feels like something "grips" my wheels for a split second as I'm turning them. . .only if I'm at idle or *just* starting to move.

This is happened enough that I've noticed "there it is again" but not so much that I've been able to establish a repeatable pattern (i.e., "when I do 'this', it happens".

Anyone else??? And if so, did you take the car in?

Mark

Yeah I sometimes get a vibrating/grinding (but not metal-to-metal) sound when going very slowly (like turning into my garage) but it only happens with the brakes slightly applied. If I let off the brakes for a second it goes away. It only happens when turing sharply with the brakes on, and not every time. It is quite loud. My son heard it standing next to the car as I backed out. Is this the same symptom as above or do I have something else?

Mine started making terrible noises... turned out to be a broken shaft in the power steering pump. making the seal leak and make BIG mess
Was still working though - go figure
