Default Vert Trunk Release Problem

Do any other convertible owners have trouble trying to get the trunk open??
My problem is that regardless of the method I use (Fob, Interior release or exterior button at rear) the trunk does not release without multiple attempts and then it is a struggle to have enough clearance to get my fingers under the lid to lift it.

I have tried adjusting the ***** on the outer edge of the trunk lid but those seem to be only for alignment. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

'05 Vert, never had a problem. Sounds like it may be electrical -- how does it work using the key?

Mine works fine. It pops up about an inch or so when I hit the release. Plenty of room to get my fingers under and lift the lid. Sounds like you may need to have the trunk lid adjusted.

05 Vert...no problems. Take it to the dealer and have them check it out, sound like it just may need an adjustment.

'06 C6 vert - no problem here.

Go to the dealer and have him open the trunk. If it looks like he is also dissatisfied with the "ease" of opening, fill out a ticket and have him adjust it.

I've had this happen a few times. I just close the trunk and try again. I didn't look into it yet as it's only a minor nuisance.

Mine is an 06 and I was just out in the garage looking at the mechanism and it appears there are two positions that it goes to after pushing the button. The first is at about 1/2 inch. Then if you apply some slight lift it goes to the second position or stop which is about an inch. If it would automatically get to the one inch position that would be great. That would be enough clearance to get my fingers underneath the lid to lift it.

After some close inspection it appears that the brass colored part of the locking mechanism binds and doesn't spring back easily. Maybe that has something to do with it? My dealer may still have an 07 vert on the showroom floor and maybe I can check that one tomorrow. I had it in to the Dealer before and they couldn't figure it out I'm not sure I trust them.

Happens on mine occasionally. Always works on the second try.

I have this problem too. I've noticed that it happens more frequently when its cold, something probably isn't lubed enough or is binding. I've gotten into the habit of pushing the release twice when its cold (which it is now). Keep us posted on what the dealer says and if they fix it and what it is.

Initially, was doing the two pushes to ensure it would open enough to get a finger under the lip. I have found if I press and hold for a second, works without a problem.

PC901, Have experienced the same problem that you described on my 06 vert and have resorted to doing the same thing that Likecars does.

No problems so far. I would let the dealer look at it.

On my C5 I had to lower (by unscrewing) the rubber bumpers on the trunk lid a little so that they compressed more and gave the lid more "spring" when opening. Had to be careful though or the decklid would stick up a little. Haven't had the problem with my C6 but I wonder if this is the cure?

My 06 vert does exactly the same thing. I have to try to open it multiple times before it pops up enough to get it open.

My 07 vert does the same thing. I am going to have the dealer look at it when I bring it in for it's first checkup.
