Default headers

This question has been asked here before, but I didnt catch it.
How do headers sound with the stock mufflers?
Is there at least a noticeable difference?

I'd like some feedback on this too.

I've currently got LGM Pro LT's with Borla quad tips on my C5 and it sounds great!

I have my C6 on order as well as a set of LGM's for it to put on as soon as I get back from Bowling Green. I'm hoping it sounds decent enough that I won't have to go out and get a cat back immediately.

jaxgater,

You will have to get another center section for your exhaust if you go with long tube headers. You can keep your stock mufflers, but the H pipe will have to be replaced with one with high flow cats or no cats.

Most people report that the exhaust sound is enhanced a lot with headers, X pipe, and factory mufflers.

Thats cool! That is basicaly what I am looking for,I will leave the cats on,I am interested in a nice strong sound without it being too loud.

The headers I have on my c5 and have already ordered for my upcoming C6, LG Pro Long Tube Headers is the complete system, from the heads to the collectors, through the Metal Matrix cats, on through the X-pipe and then back to the stock mufflers. Comes with its own X-pipe. But thanks.

I'm going in next week for Melrose (jet hot coated) headers w/ R/T hi flo cats mated to the stock exhaust. I have heard this setup and while there is a noticeable improvement in exhaust note, it is not as loud as catback. I personally like this as the advantage in spending the $ on headers is the performance gain. Much bigger bang for the $ IMO!
