Just driving back to the office in my bastardized C6 listening to the deep rumble of my stainless steel Bullet exhaust and thinking about this thread ...

After moding an original 1993 Mustang Cobra to the tune of $80,000 (sold 4 months ago for $10,000) to me it wasn't about investment, it was about performance to the extreme. Now, when I purchased my C6 I never thought I would mod it, because it has the balance of superior power, elegance, and handeling.

One year later, kooks long tube headers, x-pipe, hi flo cats, B&B's route 66 quad round cat back, and the Vortex ram air. Let me tell you by saying that I have a grin from ear to ear every time I drive the C6. And next on my mod list is the 4.10 gears and 160 stat and tune, with chuck cow. that is coming next week. So there you have it, I do it for the fun and passion of owning a superior Icon and the fact for me is,that modding can only make it more fun.

on my C5 I only changed the cheap *** plastic gas pedal to a metal one that matched the clutch and brake pedal...other than that I loved the car just like it rolled off the assy line.

some folks want to customize their car which personally I'm against, but what the heck -- to each their own --- just makes mine look that much better!

To say, my car is faster than your car!!!

To each of his own?

Mod's can make you or brake you!

I mod all my cars except the vette for now. The mods that I plan on doing are: exhaust, intake, rims, brakes, 3M clear bra, and tint.

With any other car it would be customized, not bastardized. With out the customs or modded, the stockers would be everywhere and not worth as much. Eazy now fellas,, this is just my point of view. The corvette was made to be driven,We are humans with the same drive for MORE! We become bored very easy.
The first year the vette is awsome till the day the little bast,, I mean hopped up rice burner gives you a run for your money and it gets you thinkin.,,,,What?$$??,,,, ,,$$??,,,,Yup,me too! It is great to have people keep a vette tucked away and all original for every one to see. Speakin for myself,I want to enjoy my investment, life is too short!I would be happier with a model on the shelf.I don't want the same car that the next guy has! I want the best car made and to make it better and in my own way. Please don't misunderstand. If I were a rich man I would have both.

I was at the monthly supercar gtg in October and saw 3 cobras sitting there. 2 were kits built at that place in Nevada that has Caroll Shelby's "blessing" and allow them to use the "cobra" name. Both cars were absolutly gorgeous with monster, chromed out Roush big block motors in them. Their value, maybe $200,000, tops. There wasn't an original part on either car. The 3rd was an original 427 Cobra. The guy who owned the car was standing over it all morning bragging about this & that, the cars heritage, where it had raced, & who had previously owned it. It was okay but not nearly as nice looking as the 2 kit cars. Things looked rather dull and lacked luster, especially the plain and dirty looking engine compartment. The value, over 1 million. For my money, I personally would rather have the bitchen looking kit that I'm sure performs better too, and the extra 3/4 mil in my bank account. Original means nothing to me, and it isn't worth 750,000 dollars for sure.

To the original poster, boy, are you wrong!

Porsche and BMW enthusiasts are just as crazy as we are, even worse, I know some 996 turbo owners who change stuff. Try justifying changing parts on a car worth $130k.

You are making certain assumptions that are flat out ignorant or oblivious...I'll let you choose. First, you assume that the vette is perfect. No car on the face of this earth is perfect...that's why we do things to please OUR own needs. Second, you are assuming that the owners are using the car just as you would. But, there are racers among us, collectors, show car people, daily drivers, etc.

Right now, the only car I haven't modified is my 05 XJR, but that is b/c my wife drives it and it is our family car. Even changing brand of tires can be considered modifying the car IMHO.
