You don't need a nice car to get women. I'm 29. My C6 was built on Monday and waiting to ship out; but, my DD is a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire sedan with Hawaiian seat covers and the ladies looooove it.

Get a corvette, that's what 45 year olds with gold chains, gray mullets and no friends do.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

If I were you, I'd have a 4 door diesel, jacked up. Plenty of room for friends, can be made fast, chicks love trucks, you don't have to worry about door dings if it's raised high enough. Also, insurance should be lower, much lower. Vettes suck as daily drivers, and you'll get door dinged at school for sure.

Is your Mom really looking for a "Chick Magnet"?

Doubt this is a real post, but at 16 I did not ask my parents to go into debt so I could have a nice car. I worked and purchased the best car I could afford while saving money for university. You might consider the same.

When I was 16, in 1971, I drove a 1966 Beetle. My Dad picked it up used for $400.00. Had 4 different colored fenders and I was happy. Six volt electrical system. Needed a voltage converter to put in a stereo. I think this is a post. My advice....take the bus!

I'm not totally parental but I'm sorry....I just don't think a Corvette is an appropriate car for a 16 year old.

Because my 16 year old son was not applying himself at school, I did not let him get his driver's license until he was 17 (and things improved at school). I was then willing to buy him a new car....he wanted an Evo. I would not buy him an Evo because it was just too high-powered. I'm not that old I don't remember what it's like to be 16 or 17.

My son's next choice was the Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart which I thought was a very reasonable car for a new, 17 year old driver. I bought him the new Lancer Ralliart. His not having the 'chick magnet' Evo in no way hurt his activities with the ladies...he's a proverbial 'Don Juan.' I already got a call from some girl's Father complaining about my son climbing out of his daughters bedroom window at 4 in the morning. My son actually denied sneaking out of our house (to visit his girlfriend) but he was ID'd by a security guard at the gated community where the girl lived. The girl's father was actually pretty cool about it realizing 'it takes two to tango.' My son lost his car privileges for a few weeks for lying about it.

Be happy with what you have....a lot of kids don't even have a car. Your Vette will come with age and experience.

Corvette is not a beginners car...first of all your almost assured to have some sort of wreck when you first start driving whether its totally your fault or not..Anyone new to driving will almost always overestimate what the vehicle is capable of and usually leads to the first wreck. Not to mention insurance will be ungodly on a corvette at 16...I'm 23yrs old soon to be 24 and my isurance runs around 2400 dollars a year! it's very high and want drop until I turn 25.

2nd even though you say you want hotrod and street race..you most certainly will either under your own eagerness or through pier pressure. When I was 16 my testosterone and pride got the most of me and it still does to some extent now. But I am a much more experienced driver now that I've had over 500hours of interstate experience driving back and forth from college.

Get the experience in the jeep cherokee its safer in a wreck and you'll probably be in a better financial situation by the time your ready for a new car.

You sound like me at that age (13 years ago). I begged and rationalized why I should have the used 1985 C4 Vette that I wanted for a first car. Of course they didn't allow me to get it. It wasn't about the money, because the brand new Geo Storm they got me was about the same price (even more I think). The fact is though that I would've done something really stupid with that car at that age. And by the way, I still pulled chicks in the Geo.

When you graduate college then get a Corvette. We don't want to see you and some nice girl splattered all over the pavement at the young age of 16.

She says you too young, you need to learn how to drive better + you'll start racing and i told her in responsible, but when she said i still need to get better on driving i was thinking what if i save up until im 18 and buy a better corvette and just buy the jeep now.

What do you think?
Chick magnet
Pro (Nice *** car, the girls will also love it)
Con (Might not get a good one for so cheap)

Jeep
Pro (Cheap, reliable)
Con (Not much of a Chick Magnet...Maybe a little)
Cars are neat. All kinds of them. Even non-Corvettes.

Trust me... You really don't NEED a Corvette when you are just sixteen years old.

I suspect a guy like you don't need a Corvette to use as a 'chick magnet' either.

Owing a Corvette at your experience level will more likely result in you losing

1. Your driving privledges or, worse

2. Your life.

Get something a little less of a 'chick magnet' to learn the rules of the road with.

Trust me, I've been there, done that...

i paid for my Corvette by my self, and i was 16 when i did it. it is an '84 thats in good shape. Then a year later i wrecked it. i thought that i could handle it on the track but i couldnt. i know that you are not going to agree with me, because i wouldnt when i was 16. wait till you can get yourself a cheap C4 and then pay for it by your self.

btw, you want a second car if u get a vette... most of them are very reliable, but there are a few bad ones out there.

Definately not a first car.. or a second or even third maybe. a family freind just got his liscense and a brand new evo.. now thats a whole lot of car for a young kid.. and its alot faster then an older c4 or some c5 vettes with just a few bolt ons, but at least that car is awd and will keep you outta trouble, while the vette is 10x more dangerous to drive... you sould but a used 03 evo, you could have had the one I just sold for 20K with almost 400hp, plus 4 seats to pack in the chics (I have had 8 in the car at once).. plus racing around from stop light to stop light (which you will do) its faster and safer, only problem is insurance on this car is 2x more then the vette.

Paid $500 for my first car ...broken down Ford Maverick and it took me forever to save up for it...but I loved that car...still miss it!
Why not try to find a good used Maverick
