It is my understanding that the breakage was with the 05 differential housings and that was redesigned for 06. The only difference I've read with the 07 A6 is that the have eliminated some of the paddle lag.

I checked with my service advisor and he could not find anything that stated the 06 software can be upgraded to 07.
That is what I've read. I have a friend with a 07 A6, but he won't take it above 3500 rpm (I'd love to buy a used car from this man, he really takes excellent care of his cars!).
