Default Won an '07 Vert

Wow.....

Last night what I thought was a $200 charitable donation turned into a 2007 convertible.

and a rather large tax bill...

the fine print that says the "winner pays all applicable taxes", that you never read or care about because you never expect to win one of these things. At least I didn't.

Wanted a Vette since I got my first pedal car... I'm now 38. Anyway, finally got my 1st Vette last fall, a Torch Red Z06, Mod Red interior and I absolutely love it. Even if I only get to drive it on weekends to the gym or on rare days I don't have to drop off or pickup the kids from daycare. Now 15 months later, I win another. Not that I consider myself unlucky, but I have never won any type of raffle, 50/50, lottery (ok well like $3)

Haven't even seen the car yet and other than what is on the ticket, Machine Silver, Black Interior, Bose Stereo and Power Top, I don't know anything about it. Mention of power top makes me think it must have 3LT, since I think you can only get that option with that package. Don't know if it is manual or automatic or has anyother options like Z51 that I would have wanted if I was buying. As I own a Z, it's probably obvious I prefer manual, however, it might be nice to have an Auto so the wife could drive this one... with the top down no less.

Anyway, my first thought was, I can sell the 03 Z and the "new" vert and move up to a new Z06. Then it was, hey it might be nice to have a convertible. But I can't remember ever driving the Z this summer and thinking... Gee, this is great but I wish I could put the top down. Then it was, I have two kids, a third on the way, I rarely get to drive the one I have (4,000 miles since I brought in Oct 06). What the heck do I need two for? I can't see myself selling the Z, but I also haven't driven the new one yet. It's also very tempting to sell them both and move go for the C6Z.

Just wanted to post my story and get some feedback and what others might do if they ever found themselves so lucky. May you all be faced similar "tough" decisions some day.

If anyone is interested I'll post more info when figure out what I am going to and some pictures when I get the car.

Congrats. I would keep them both. I see you're in New Jersey so you can drive the Z in the winter and put the top down on the vert in the summer. I love those options. Good luck (or do I even have to say that).

Give me the car and I'll pay the tax bill.

I wonder if there is some way that you can work out a trade with a dealer to get exactly what you want in a new car. I imagine that it would take some work before a title is issued, but it might be worth considering.

You won my vette! I had a $100 ticket (I assume this was The Arc of Somerset). O well, I'll just wait for my AO Coupe to come in that was ordered Friday.

I'd love to faced with a decision like that. What you should do depends on how much the wife would like to have one of own to cruise around in. If she's not all that interested, then swap them both for C6 Z06.

First...congrats! Second, if I were you, I'd sell both and do a
C6Z w/ R8C. At any rate keep us informed/post pics of vert.
