my dealer told me if i did not park the car in reverse,it would kill the batt.,is that true
If you are driving a 2005 Manual transmission yes it is. The car has several computer systems that are triggered to shutdown via the car being shifted into reverse and turned off. This feature has been the source of much controversy and contributed to a failure mode referred to as DBS (Dead battery syndrome), do a search on this one. It was eliminated in the 2006 model year and the shift to reverse is no longer required. The shift to reverse is used as in the manual it is recommended that the car be parked in reverse as it is the gear with the most compression and best opportunity to keep the car from rolling.
The good news is, you don't HAVE to leave it in reverse; once the shutdown procedure is complete, you can put it in neutral without risking a dead battery...

If you would finish filling out your profile we could provide an exact answer. The answer differs depending on what year you have.
Too many have posted here lately when they're having problems and they don't give enough information about what model year or set of options they have.
If you're not going to fill out your profile, including a little info. about your car, at least include the information when you make your first post about a problem or situation.
Yeah I wish there was away to turn off all the annoying horns in the car
Luckly it does not do it all of the time. Chiming happily away, as if the ignition key is in the ignition, upon opening the door to get out of another vehicle. But I am getting in the Vette, w/ the fob in my pants pocket. Stupid car!! Sometimes the horn honks twice, when I open the door to get in, trying to leave w/o attracting too much undue attention (w/ the Vette is this an oxymoron?) I am glad that my C6 does not do this all of the time, but it is still annoying.

Either:
1. Post specific information, and more of it, about what you're doing when the car dings or the horn blows ; or
2. Read your manual some more.
We can probably help if you can't find it in the manual and will post the details here. Be aware that other objects in the same pocket with the fob can block the signal and make the car temporarily "think" there's no fob. Also cell phones and cell phone chargers in the cockpit sometimes cause problems, especially the chargers.

What do you mean by this. If you shut the car down correctly, the only reason the horn should beep is if you have left the fob in the car when exiting. I have an '05, and have never experienced any problems what so ever when shutting off the car using the proper procedure. No chimes, no horns, and not ONE dead battery.
Find a new dealership. You drive a 2007 so obviously your dealer isn't paying attention or doesn't have a clue (or both). As you now know, the need to 'park in reverse' only applies to the 2005 6-speed manual shift C6.

This is a description of DBS initiating.
If you properly shut down in reverse, then go to neutral before exiting the car, and the horn still blows, check your DIC for the 'shift to reverse' warning.
Your initial reverse shut down did not register with the BCM, and DBS would occur in about 48 hours if you don't drive the car sooner.
In fact I have 'saved' my car many times from DBS by doing just that. My car will show the warning about once every 6-9th shutdown.
