....for no front plate....the cop was cool....said she loved the car but they're having a big problem with vettes since there's no spot for a front plate....I told her I didn't want to drill holes on the bumper ...she understood but said I still need to have one....been pulled over twice before and no mention of the front plate at all....
I went with the Top Flight Productions removable front plate. I just leave it on all the time unless I want to take some pictures or other car fuction. Imo the best alternative compared to the factory ugly front plate. Alot of people have said the car looks fine with the front plate on, much better then the stock location.

Right! So it's our fault that GM did not provide a spot for the plate (a stick on is not a designed spot). Why don't they take it up with the manufacturer?
Better yet, why doesn't MA have a uniform front plate rule? Those with the old green & white plate don't have or require a front plate. That sort of blows away all of the arguments as to why there has to be a front plate.
I use the NCM bracket that mounts below the bumper on the front air dam. It's not very visible, but it meets the law's requirement (I keep a copy of the law in the glove box).

I mounted mind on the frame in front of the car under the motor. You can see it from looking at the car. The plate is laminated to prevent the road stones from damaging it. I can not post photos on this web site so if you send me an e-mail I will show you what I have done. I am at work now at rateti@aep.com. You can check with you MVB to see if it is legal. In Ohio according to MVB it is legal. I have not been stopped.

I use the same removable plate with a body color frame on it. Looks much better than the GM option and pops off in under 30 seconds when I don't want it to show.

My state (Nevada) has a new rule… If there is no “place” for a front plate- you don’t have to display one - Talk about opening a can of worms…
Well - all manufactures provide some sort of a bracket for a plate - Fed law.
Seems even the cops don’t know what the law is or if a car has a place for a plate.
This is such a grey area.
I’ve been stopped three times for no plate (Never in my Corvette - I have a truck also). Each time I was ticketed, just a “fix-it” ticked, no fine.
Last time I was stopped the cop asked me if I was fined for no plate- I told hm no fine - he let me go.
Who knows ?? ... My 2 ¢

- if you gotta have one for whatever reason, this is the best alternative - Top Flight offers an excellent product and outstanding customer service.

It's an interesting situation in trying to interpret that law I suppose. Just about any car has a "place" for the front plate if you are just going to stick a frame right on the front with two sided tape. As with most other Corvette owners...no way on that option for me. I continue to drive around slightly paranoid.

I absolutely refuse to put on a front plate. Those removeable plate mounts look Mickey Mouse to me. I don't care if they write me a ticket, I'll just rip it up. They can't make me use one.
Wait a minute. The BMV doesn't make me buy an extra plate to put in the front. I finally found one thing that I like about the state of Indiana. Yeah, no front plate, that's NO ticket.

I have the Top Flight bracket but I don't keep the front plate on unless I know I'm going somewhere I know I may get busted for not having it mounted.
Around home, I just keep it behind me on the shelf and if I get pulled over for not having it on, I just tell the officer that I just came from washing the car, forgot to put it back on and get out and put it on.
I'm not sure why some folks are so dead set against a front plate on the Vette. Granted, the car looks better without one, but if you have to have one, Top Flight makes a great mount. I went with the permanent front mount because I don't think I'll be showing the car, and I couldn't think of any other occasion when taking the plate off would be necessary. The Top Flight mount follows the curve of the car's nose and, if you put one of the body color license plate frames around the plate, it looks totally organic. It's what the factory should have done in the first place. I know some people worry about blocking the air intake by putting a plate there, but that is not a true concern. The C6 is a bottom breather as well as a front breather, and in the 100 plus degree days we have in the summer in El Paso, the engine hasn't budged an inch from its normal temperatures. Oh, another thing, if people start getting pulled over for front plate violations when they hadn't previously, check if your locale is starting to use the intersection red light cameras. If you don't have a front plate, they can't nail you. The municipalities that use these cameras are usually the ones that enforce the front plate laws.
