Default Steering issue?

My 07 coupe has about 2K on the clock. The steering is not smooth when I am stopped after the car has warmed up. Does anyone else have this issue? Feels like I'm not getting adequate power assist when stopped.

I've got an '07 convertible, and haven't had any issues. I've got about 4,000 miles on it.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

No problem here. Sometimes when I am starting out in 1st gear and the RMP's go slightly below idle the power assist seems a little low. I have a manual transmission. I think this is normal.

This is Bob at Fichtner Chevrolet,

Here is a copy of a Technical Bulletin from GM on this problem. Take it to your dealer and have them order you a new hose under warranty!

Document ID# 1868764
2006 Chevrolet Corvette

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Subject: Power Steering Shudder or Vibration at Idle (Replace Power Steering Inlet (Pressure) Hose) #06-02-32-012A - (10/24/2006)

Models: 2005-2006 Chevrolet Corvette

with Automatic Transmission

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This bulletin is being revised to update the correction information and provide illustrations to show the new hose routing. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 06-03-32-012 (Section 02 -- Steering).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Condition
Some customers may comment on a shudder/vibration while rotating the steering wheel at idle. This vibration can be very minor to where it is only felt in the steering wheel or major enough to notice a slight shake in the interior components. Rougher road surfaces can increase the intensity as it increases the drag against the wheels as they attempt to turn. Slightly raising the engine idle should eliminate the vibration.

Cause
At idle, turning the wheels causes the steering pressures to raise high enough to cause a load on the engine. The load is great enough to cause the idle to become rough and it can be felt in the vehicle.

Correction
Replace the power steering inlet (pressure) hose with a revised hose. Refer to the pictures below for new hose routing.

Vehicles with FE1 and FE2 Suspension

For vehicles with either FE1 or FE2 suspension, a retaining clip (P/N 88967174) is also required. After installing the new hose (1), attach the clip (2) to the hose just before the crimp. Secure the other end of the clip to the existing power steering return line.

Vehicles FE3 and FE4 Suspension

For vehicles with either FE3 or FE4 suspension, a screw (P/N 11609268) is also required. After installing the new hose (1), secure the clip (2) to the front crossmember with the screw.

Tighten
Tighten the screw to 27 N·m(20 lb ft).

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.

Hey Bob- That t.s.b. refers to 2005-2006 models. Does the 2007 model still not have the updated pressure hose installed yet? Just curious as some manufacturers are very particular about year and vin breaks. Thanks! Steve
