Default LS7 swap? price reduced $4K

Anyone done/doing an LS7 swap? you can get one in the crate for $12K http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results...partnumber=LS7

some like to make their Vette look like a Z06, how about a sleeper C6 that runs like a Z06, but looks like a C6?

Pretty hard to make a sleeper. With the big HP increase, you need more rubber at the rear in order to hook up.

I am in the process of having the LS7 installed in my '03 Z06 at Cartek. I plan on keeping it as stock looking as possible with the LS6 covers and all.

i really dont get this mod.

If you want power there are much better ways to get 100 crank HP

if you want a 427+ there are better after market engines out there for less.

some one explain please.

By the time you paid to have it installed (unless you're doing it all yourself), you might as well get a Lingenfelter package conversion....forged component motor, 3 year/36,000 mile warranty, better performance.....a better way to go in my opinion.

I am not advocating the LS7 swap, you have to consider going that route you have 2 engines, (keep or sell original) so the cost is LS7 plus install minus the value of LS2. And with the LS7 you have proven and tested performance. Modding LS2 is largely unkown by comparison (albeit you have the word of whoever is selling or doing the mod).

Spare your breath, I know simply putting an LS7 in doesn't make it a Z06, there is suspension, tires, frame... yadda yadda

there are a number of threads going about a new upgraded engine in the 08 C6, anywhere from 30 to 100 HP more, just pointing out that you can do it yourself from with a LS7 crate for $12K, so if 400HP LS2 just doesn't do it for you, why wait for what GM may or may not do? Hot Rod Mag did just that, bought a crate and found the LS7 had 550 HP when tested.

it would be interesting to read a report of your experience, and pics when you are done

to the naysayers: ... I should point out, want a Vert Z06? saw the top off a coupe or buy a crate engine and do a swap?
have a C5 or C6 with a trashed engine? if you're going through the trouble of getting and installing a new engine, for a little more $ and effort ...
there are plenty of people who have gone through the trouble of modding a stock engine only to wind up with a piece of junk when they were done, with a crate engine, the unkown is reduced a great deal.

Whats the warranty on a crate purchased, dealer installed LS7? I'm wondering if GM would allow this IF the LS2 needed to be replaced under a warranty claim...
