Default 06-07 colors

Just wondering what color sold the fewest? The reason I ask is I have a Monterey Red coupe and I am now hearing the color is being discontinued. Is it due to the fact that it's an undesired color compared to others? The color only ran for two years and I am thinking ppl did'nt want to pay the paint fee ($750) so GM dropped it.

Also will this paint be obtainable in the future just in case I had to have body work due to mishap. The reason I asked is a friend of mine said to purchase the paint (enough to paint a good portion of the car) in case a body shop is unable to obtain it. I have bought some touch up paint before and the color is called Jewel Red.

MR is a beautiful color and it's to bad GM has decided to eliminate it.

Artic White was the fewest made....not sure about sales. Maybe someone can post the numbers. Lemans blue is being discontinued as well. All Gm paint codes can still be obtained......even after they are discontinued. People restore older cars all the time.....with the original paint codes.

I assume GM has some method to their madness but they 'play' with the color options endlessly. When the C6 first came out, Precision red was a shortlived color (I believe discontinued in October 2004). I was hot for Magnetic Red Metallic II which I ordered. I learned later if I would have ordered a day or two later, I would not have been able to get Mag red.

With the computerized color/painting technology available today, I'd like to see Corvette offer any custom color a customer wanted. It would be a very premium option but imagine the marketing hype....order a truly one-of-a-kind Corvette painted to any color the customer wants. I know there are some practical obstacles on the production line but I still think that would be awesome.

It almost seems like they're getting to the point of offering just about whatever the customer wants. Gee, just think a $50K-$65K car made the way you want it. Now that's a good deal if you can afford it.

And btw, there is a car company in Germany that you can order just about any color you want; it'll cost you, but they will paint it. It's that dreaded (or much loved) P-car.

I noticed there were actually more Artic White coupes produced than Daytona Sunset Orange coupes in the 2006 model year. Not by much though....

Thanks for the interesting information.

Default Customer colors would be nice, but...

I would imagine one huge obstacle would be overcoming the buyers remorse... I know tons of people who painted a room a color based on paint chips or pictures, only to have to repaint when the color they 'wanted' turned out to not be the color they wanted. Pictures or samples never give a true impression of what it will look like in the flesh. Can you imagine what would happen when the average buyer received their car, and the hue was not what they expected? Ouch!

It's funny, I would have NEVER thought artic white would be one the fewest made in 06. I've always thought white was one of the most popular colors for any car. I think it looks awesome on a vette.
