Default Lim-ooohhh-yeah!!!

Got the windows tinted in the C6 Vert yesterday. Although I like posting pix of my car just cause I can (jklarkpimp'ish style ) I decided to wait until I've done a mod to do so. Well, although I know others don't consider Lloyd's mats a mod, I hope they consider tint a mod and if not, oh well. :P

Anyway, I had 20% on my C5 because a buddy told me I'd have a helluva time trying to back up anywhere without a spotter. I was very disappointed in how light/clear the 20% was. So, I went with 5% limo tint all the way around on my C6 and I couldn't be happier! I'm not sure what all the fuss is about but I have no issues seeing out of this percentage of tint at night. I'm 45 and have a fairly heavy eyeglass prescription. I have more problems with glare than not seeing anything and this cuts down on the glare.

Ok, without further adieu, here are some pix. I did some comparison shots between my C5 20% and my C6 5%.

Installer on passenger side in their shop before and after...

Looking through both the driver's side and passenger windows...

Looking through the driver's side window out through the windshield...

Looking through the rear glass of both cars...

Looking into the cockpit through the windshield...

Depending on the sun angle it is rather easy to see through. Sun angle on all shots is front left of car...

Just another shot, cause I can ...

And finally a shot of my babies together ...

Nice write-up and comparison photos. I'm glad you're happy with it. I'm belatedly getting around to tinting my own windows soon. After riding in my oldest Son's heavily tinted car, I don't think I would be happy going with a limo black-out (especially at night) so I think I'll stick with legal limit tinting.

BTW, nice looking cars!

haha, and i thought my 15% was dark. looks good. i also dont have any problems with visibility at night. ...of course i'm also never in any dark alleys with no street lights out to limit my visibility at night, so that could be part of it.

edit: btw, to me, the black vette looks way lighter than 20% (almost 35%). my 15% seems quite a bit darker than your black vettes tint. my 15% seems about as close in darkness as your c6.

Yeah, I had the option of going 15% or 5% this time and debated about it for a bit at the shop. I said to hell with it, put on the 5% and if I am not happy with it, I'll have you rip it off and put the 15% on. Ain't gonna happen.

Believe me, it's 20% on the C5. It's all about how the sun strikes it. When I took the pic looking through both driver and passenger windows the sun was at my back.

If you look at the image comparing the "cockpit through the windshield" you'll notice that the C5 passenger window looks just as dark as the C6 with the reflection of clouds on it, but we both know it's not.

That's WV for you. They crack down on everything there it seems. Talked to a cop buddy of mine here and he said, no worries. It really would only come into question if I was stopped for some other infraction, if then. Same thing goes for black outs on the tail lights.

It's actually for the officer's safety. If he can't see what's behind the glass, he's at a disadvantage.

It looks to me like you might have some night visibility issues with the darker tint.

He's not at a disadvantage until he pulls me over, at which time I simply roll my windows down.

Even IF that were the case, which it is not, it's a simple matter of cracking the windows about an inch or two for me, but thanks for your concern.

No, I believe he'll pull up behind you, and with his external mic/loudspeaker he will instruct you "driver, please step out of your vehicle and move to the rear" BTW It does look good.
