I have a Battery Tender Plus. I have it to the hot contact of the battery and the black to a bolt on the engine. Put a towel on the hood under the wires. Tender is on the garage floor with a block of wood under it. The hood is down but not closed tight. Next the cover is on.
Great product!
I do the same except I run the wire over and down the side of the fender with a towel under it. I have the Battery Tender Jr, $20 ea. I have 3 of them. One for the C6, one for my Camaro SS and one for my lawn tractor with the snow plow on it.
Well, I haven't seen my solution so I'll add one here. For years, I have used trickle chargers on all my cars, boat, motorcycle, garden tractor, motorhome etc. I permanently affix these small chargers next to the battery and do not use aligator or tension clips. I run the wire through loom material to the front of the vehicle and the plug goes through the grille. I use a plug in similar to a trailer connector, 2 prong, it is small and almost undetectable and also has a dust cap. The wire has a 6 inch loop inside the engine compartment with a very small black elastic cord stretched across the loop which retracts the cord after I pull it out to plug in the power and it keeps it from flopping around inside also. I make my own cords to plug into the wall socket. I have been doing this successfully for about 25 years, in the midwest and Florida.
