I just received a mailer from a local Chicagoland dealer saying it is having a special sale, offering 2006 Vettes for "$1,000 under invoice." Although it does not say must buy out of stock, that would be my presumption. Also, does not include Z06. Guess there are still a lot of 06 models out there.
I bought my 06 about a month and a half ago and paid about $7500 off MSRP. How that compared to invoice I don't know. The dealer offered a price of $6k off right over the phone. We dealt for about 3 wks and I ended up about $7500 off.
Looking at dealer inventories here in the Phx metro area there are probably still a dozen or so 06's left. Two dealers in particular have 4-6 each.

At this point in time you should be able to get a good price on an 06. I doubt that includes the Z06 though. I bought my 06 on January 2 for $10,000 under MSRP. It was the last O6 the dealer had and he really wanted to get rid of it. I don't remember exactly because I don't have my research here with me at the office, but that was at least $3,000 under invoice.

That dealer who I also received a post card from has one 06 in stock, a Red Convert. My assumption is that they are trying to get you in the door to sell you an 07. Total price is around $55,000 for a $62,000 car. You can get that kind of deal on an 07.

I just took delivery on a NEW '05 convert. $11K off of mrsp factoring in my trade-in. I'm satisfied with the deal, but probably could have done a wee bit better. - I just couldn't wait any longer -
