I have seen many concerns expressed about damage that has been done to their chrome rims either when having tires balanced or replaced.
Sears does all of my tire work. When I was in today, I asked the manager if they can handle the tires on my 06. His response was they they can handle up to 20 inch rims but nothing larger than that.
When I asked about any damage that they MIGHT incur while working on them. His response is that should they damage the rim, they will replace it.
Just thought you would like to know.
Anyone had any experience with them on their Corvettes?

I went on line and don't remember the tire equipment but there is a specific tire machine that is the latest and greatest for Vette rims be it polished alum or Chrome. Did a search and my Chevy dealer had it. Made them walk the whole car to confirm zip in and scratch, ding, dent, chip etc and wala, done in 4 hours and no issues. Yes it took a while but key words were "no issues".

In the old days a lot of shops would not touch special wheels. Now a days the wheel market is so huge the tire shops have to handle special wheels to stay in business.
Hey guys, I realize that this may not be a big deal to you. I truly do need to know if any of you have had any experience with any Sears.
Thanks
MAKE SURE THEY ARE RUN FLAT CERTIFIED
THEN YOU WILL KNOW IF THEY CAN DO IT
IF NOT THEY ARE NOT UP TO DATE ON UHP PRODUCT
AND I WOULD LOOK FOR SOMEONE WITH ROAD FORCE
BALANCING EQUIPMENT THEY WILL ALWAYS KNOW THERE STUFF!
I had a Goodyear shop scratch the hell out of one of my polished wheels. The owner the shady and crooked businessboy Ed Shamp of Meridian MS refused to take responsibility for the damage. The good news is, is that Goodyear took care of the problem and agreed to pay me what it costs to fix the wheel. For my set of front tires, I went to a shop that has been doing my dad's tires and his company's tires for about 10 years. They ruined my front wheels also. Whatever you do make sure that you get the manager to agree to everything you want before they touch your car. Also bring your own jacking pucks, don't let them jack up your car without them. Teach them how to do it.
Yep do that leg work and verify so no headache later. I was even scared at Chevy with the newest equipment because any idiot can cause damage or maybe that's not nice, any untrained person!

Is there a Discount Tire or NTB brand shop in your area ? Both are run flat certified and have the newer equipment for dis-mount/re-mount and balance work.

Discount Tire ? Nope. Store mgr owns a C5 and most of his techs own high end Camaro's or Mustangs with a couple of rouge C3's in the mix. His store gets a lot of high dollar cars in for tires so he makes sure his techs know what the h*ll they are doing.
I've always been a Discount Tire customer on my previous cars. Never had an issue with rim damage or scratches. They also gave the least amount of hassle if you ever needed to use their road hazard warranty, no questions asked.

Best part is that not only will they price match any one else, they usually beat it by 10 %.
Man almost any tire shop can do the work, it just depends on the guy that actually does the work that day!
I have a guy at my Goodyear shop who can change tires/wheels in a heartbeat. I bought two rears from my dealership and they took a few hours (really!) to get it done...and they're really good with any other work or issues I've had in the past! It's all in the craftsman...not the tool!

I can not stand Sears, especially the service garage. But this is just my opinion base on my experience.
