I have checked the list of threads on this site and can not find one for my new problem. Have a 2005 coupe and after 20,000 plus miles it has developed a dash display problem. For no reason that I can account for the dash all of a sudden goes beserk. All the readings are wrong. Speed shows 70 when it is actually close to 40, all other gauges are wrong and displays for heater and AC are all wrong also along with outside temp. If I turn off the car and restart, most of the time it goes back to OK but not always. I know this is a warrantee problem but would like some info from the experts on this site before I contact GM. Help please

As I read through your list of symptoms, my first thought was a faulty instrument panel module. But then you mentioned the HVAC controls. They are separate from the IPM, so that rules out that as the problem. Power is common to both, however, and a wiring fault (or nearly dead battery) could be the culprit. Problems on the car's Class II data bus could also cause the issue, though that would likely cause other problems too.
Does the radio also act up? If so, I'm going to suggest you have a faulty ground point. G107 is common to all 3 systems.
Mine did it once for a second and a few days later the battery died. Maybe a coincidence, I don't know. I installed a new Optma a few weeks ago and have not seen it since.
I knew I could count on someone on this site to have the answer. Thanks for the help. I will double check my battery first and if good I will then take it to my dealer, who by the way has been great for past repairs such as redo of top and redo of rear end, and let them know about the ground problem.
