Default Borla question

I just installed my 4 tip borla stingers and was not impressed with the sound. I had the duel tip stingers on my c5 and luved the sound. It was deep and loud. When you got on it, it screamed. The new borlas are sort of quite compared to the c5. Its the right part number(11744). More pop on decelerating. I think my stock dodge pick up sounds better. Is it the c6 or the 4 tips that make it sound kind of mellow. I have heard some sound clips on youtube and they sound about the same as my c5 did. I also was told when I got on it ,the pipes bounced around alot. Whats up with this.

WOW this is the first time I've heard anyone say the Borla STINGER's are "sort of quiet". I do know they are "plumbed" differently but I have been lead to believe the C6 version is LOUDER. I was conflicted about buying a set so I test drove a buddies C5 with Stingers and I found them to be very well behaved, nice deep rumble, they growled at RPM and burpple on decal, and almost NO drone – to my ears.

I guess I'll have to wait until they arrive in a week or so.

On the other hand this could be the bane of all exhaust systems where the human factor is so unpredictable. I had the B&B Bullets and took them off after two days as they physically hurt my hearing (ringing after a 30 minute test drive) only to be told by other's they are "perfect" and I'm a whip.

So I guess we all have to discover for ourselves how after market cat-backs "really" sound to "US" as individuals.

They may get louder with some miles on them.

You just described my old c5. These new pipes are kind of melow. Louder than stock but not agressive. I would say about 1/2 what the c5 was. At cruising speed, there is no drone. I used to love turning the radio off and hearing the rumble of the pipes. Not anymore. At 55 miles per, you can hear than. But thats about it.

I had 4 tip Stingers on my C5 and I have the 4 tip Stingers on my C6. The only differences I noticed was decel burble and a slightly higher pitch at WOT on the C6. Other than that they sound the same to me. I'm very happy with my choice.

I had Stingers on my C5 and have Stingers on my c6 (same part # you have). The sound (VERY agressive) between the two is almost identical. Maybe somebody slipped a "touring" in your box by mistake.

The ones I have for sale, GM performance (Borla touring) are aggressive and sound great. They have a deep growl. Being older I decided to go back to stock. PM or e-mail me for sale details if interested.

Sure you didn't get the touring system??

My stingers were pretty loud for just a catback, I was really impressed. Now I have LTs, no cats and Stingers...Yay.

easy to tell touring from stingers...stingers have smaller round mufflers while the touring are larger and oval(like the gm)I had the touring and felt it wasnt much different than stock...now i have the stingers and like them. I opted for the 4 oval tips for appearance sake but im guessing two tips would make the sound a little "sharper"...

Default borla

i have a friend that has borla and we did alot of testing on these both his c5 -c6 ,they were fine by all means, then i got my o7 c6 and decided to put on corsas, , i can tell you i think the sound is just that much better than the stingers , all agree that has heard them. I think your best bet though is to forget the cat back for now and get headers. Dont be bashfull with your wallet on this issue though ,get the best ones you can. then if you care to make er loud and proud add the free flow corsas. later all

Good point, since it's easy to visually to see the difference I hope we hear back from the OP after a visual inspection, or better yet post a few photo's if he want's more opinions on the system he has.

Standing by to help.

Tom

I will try to take some pics this weekend. I now the model number on the box was right. maybe they did put some touring in the wrong box. There not as much rumble as my c5 had. There is also a lot of rattle. I need to get under there and see whats rattleing. It sounds like a cover sheild rattling. It does it at idle and you can hear it driving at low speeds. I had a buddy tell me when I got on it they bounced all over the place. The do move around alot by hand.
