Only if the dealer figures out that the ECM has been tampered with (it is a violation of federal law to tamper with emissions controls, and altering the firmware in the ECM qualifies as tampering). That's possible, but not very likely unless you have other visible mods that make it obvious that a tune would be required to make the damn thing idle.
Just get to know your service manager, then there are no problems.
My service advisor values his job. I've know him for many years and as much as he digs my car, he's not about to approve any warranty work he knows he shouldn't.
I was talking with several of the service guys and they were telling-me how they aggressively deny (certain) warranty service to any diesel trucks modified with a 'tuning' chip. A tuned car wouldn't be any different.
I can't say I never have a 'little larceny in my heart' my why would you expect to modify what GM designs, builds and warrants and still expect GM to warrant the product (assuming some connection between the mod and the repair)? You alter the operating parameters of the engine and certain components and you still expect GM to pay for repairs...it doesn't seem right.
