I was in my driveway yesterday when across the street my neighbor backs out of his garage in his brand new 1957 red convertable vette.
We work really different schedules and rarely see each other. I march right over and knock on the door and demand that he immediately open his garage for an inspection. It is a matching numbers, fuel injected 283 4 speed Red on Red in PRISTINE condition. He bought it last week from a guy in Indiana. I was 4 and he was 5 when the car was built.

He fired it up we jump in and off we go for a ride. Wonderful fun, top down car just purrs ...after it gets started with the fuel injector.
We get back and I ask him if he would like to see what's up 50 years later? We walk back to my place fire up my 07 C6A6 and off we go.
Same route as he took in his vette with a slight modification. I showed him the difference in horse power and handling after 50 years.

Gotta tell ya, that 57 vette is a thing of beauty and a real treasure. We will probably have great fun together keeping it running. On the other hand, that 07 is a thing of beauty and it really runs good.
It was a real kick taking the two cars out and looking at the differences after 50 years. I will line them up next to each other and get a pic to post soon as I see him again.

Great story! I would love to see some pictures of your cars together. What color is his 1957?

Here's another. My 2006 next to a 1956 taken at a car show this past weekend in New Bern, North Carolina. Of course it is even better that both cars are red.

Great story. When you drive an older Vette it really gives you an appreciation for it's history. When you drive a new one it definitely reminds you of the changes in technology.
