I was on the highway this morning and it was impossible to avoid a stone kicked up and yes it hit my whindshield. First Blemish on car. It's NOT a crack but two little chips right in my field of vision, of coarse. Has anyone had experience getting these chips repaired and how good does it turn out? I undestand they use a resin of some kind.
Anyway, I have an appointment tomorrow with The Glass Doctor. I'm told by my Vette shop he should be able to improve it 75-90%.
If it's a bullseye or star type crack they should be able to repair it and only you would know it was there as long as the repair is done properly. If it's those little pits that are about the size of a grain of sand that is considered normal wear and tear. Over the course of ownership depending on where you live you'll probably see the little pits over time. My last car had a bunch of them in two years time. I've used Safelite Auto Glass for repair work and they've always done a good job. Good luck.
I agree with the earlier post-if just chips but not a "bullseye" you pretty much have to live with it. If anyone else has any other ideas on this I would be receptive as I have those nuisance chips in several of my other cars.
You were lucky! I always prefer a windshield hit instead of one on the paint. The windshield is easy to replace.
For sure. Last summer I got a couple of little chips right on the middle of the hood when I was stuck behind some granny in the left lane on I-5 while a gravel truck in the right lane (that I wanted to pass desperately) unloaded a big chunk of debris on me.
About a month after I bought my C6, I also got a small chip/crack directly in my line-of-sight. With full glass coverage I had never tried a repair before. I didn't want to replace the windshield so soon so I opted for the repair. I'd call it a 95% success. You have to look very hard to find where it was repaired. If it's possible, I'd try the repair first. If it's not to your liking you can always have the glass replaced. Good luck!

I'd agree with 95%. I had a chip repaired. It was in the corner of the windshield, not dead center where I look, so I decided to try repair rather than replace. It is 95% invisible. When the light hits it just right, you can see it as a small glint, but most of the time, it is invisible. I'm happy with the repair. Safelite did the work in my driveway. $50 sure beats $1,000.
