Look at the SPID (Service Parts IDentification) label. I think it is located in the instrument panel compartment. Look for RRP code Z51. If listed, you have Z51, if not listed, you do not have Z51.
Also, for 2006 the brake rotors will be drilled if you have Z51. Otherwise, not drilled rotors.
Not necessarily....have to presume from the question that he bought used. Previous owner(s) may have swapped brake rotors, but may not be a factory Z51 optioned car, e.g. trans & oil coolers, gear ratios, tires, etc.
Check to see if you have holes in your disc brakes. Yes=Z51
This isn't necessarily so. My 3LT vert was special ordered by the dealer (with everything possible except Z51 or F55) for an individual that I know. The guy backed out and the car sat at the dealer for more than 3 months. My main reason for not getting it during that time was that I initially wanted the Z51 package even tho I'd never tracked either of the 2 C5's that I'd had. Finally the last week of August after the 07's came out, I got a sweet deal (which included about a 50% return on all the mods that I'd done to my 03). The first thing I changed (at less than 200 miles) were the rotors (Baer cd/s with blk hats), shocks, suspension and Z51 anti-sway bars. Generally, I just ignore comments like "How do you like the Z51's?" and quickly change the subject. It's surprising how many of my vette friends, especially the younger ones, don't seem to know the difference.
With my older friends, I joke about having a bastardized Z51 or upgraded, personalized option package.
Yeah, I can't run with a badge, but to me those things are rather sophmoric if not downright stupid and in the same vein as the bragarts that rant about envy.
Yep, all that for a $1,500 option. Oh, and I have some land in FL to sell you as well.
lol, good post! I can't wait until the 08s come out especially if the Z51 has the TEN extra hp that rumors say will be the case.....It will be so entertaining to read how that 10hp.....about 2% more by my calculation, will make the car so much faster and almost as fast as the SS/Blue Devil itself!
It's shaping up to be really entertaining. If , for the first time in the C6, GM actually does add some hp, even if a very small amount, in with the Z51 option, it will also be interesting how much more they charge for the option. My hunch is it could be twice the current price especially if Z51 badges are included.
I've had my C6 for two years and driven over 25,000 miles. Many have commented about the car and asked questions, but no one has ever asked me if it was a Z51. One person asked if it was a Z06. Two have asked what make of car it is.
That is correct, but the person who showed slotted discs = Z51 is still incorrect, since it depends on the year, which he didn't mention.
His answer is correct if he is responding to the original poster's specific questions with regard to HIS car:

Is there a way to find this out? What do I look for exactly?
Thanks,

Did you see anything in the original post saying he bought the car new? Were you aware that it's possible to add the Z51 rotors to a 2006 vert from aftermarket suppliers? Does that then make that car a Z51? I think not.
Then post #16 was incorrect when it was posted and it's still incorrect, even if a Z51 fanatic would try to have others believe it.

Did you see anything in the post saying that either car was modified???
No, even if someone with Z51 envy would try and have others believe that there is.

But just having the Z51 rotors doesn't make it a Z51, does it? Post #16 implied it would. That's all I'm saying, having the Z51 rotors doesn't make it a Z51.

Why stop there???
Having the sticker in the glovebox door saying "Z51" doesn't make it a Z51 either, as that could be a glove box door, or sticker from off another car which was a Z51.

Now you're talking. :
But unfortunately a few won't know that you (and I) are just kidding.

That's a lot less likely than what you and the originator of post #16 are suggesting.
You still haven't told me how having the Z51 rotors makes it a Z51. That's the whole issue. Obfuscate all you want. It doesn't change the issue. Having the Z51 rotors doesn't make it a Z51.
