I have owned 22 Corvettes since 1976. In 1982 I bought my first new one. The guy that I worked for at that time got one of the first 84's when they came out. After driving that car I didn't want to get back into my 82. I traded the 82 in for a new 84. I had 6 C4's and in 1996 I bought a new 96 Yellow coupe. There was talk back then that the Corvette was going to be discountinued. Then they got the green light for the C5.
I thought well if they stop making Vettes I got a new 96, and if the 1997's aren't good I have the last of the C4's. The C5 came out and one test drive I bought one. I have owned 3 C5's and thought it couldn't get any better.
I got to drive a 06 coupe with a six speed on Friday for about 50 miles and all I can say is WOW. GM does this all the time they make the car better and you don't want to get back into yours after driving the new one.
I guess i will have to find a yellow C6 to go along with my yellow C3.
Yeah no kidding. I went to visit my family in Burleson yesterday and it was snowing there all afternoon. Here in downtown Dallas though, nothing. Gotta love north Texas weather.
I traded my 04 C5 in for my C6. I feel the C6 is a much better car. Better power better power band. Rides better handles better less road noise. The C6 is just a better all around car. Neither is a bad car in any strech of the word tho. I just liked the C6 better. Also the interior of the C6 is much more modern.

That's why my garage is 1 1/2. Just enough room for the Vette and the Harley Davidson.
I have both a 2001 C5 & a 07 C6. The C5 is a great car. The base suspension is a little harder than the F55 in the C6. As others have said get the latest one within yoru budget. I prefer to drive the C6 as it much more refined than the C5.

The C6 looks like the front, sides, and rear were designed by three different people, who never got along well together. As a result they didn't know what the others were doing. A fourth person was brought in to try to pull it all together, but he committed suicide and there wasn't enough time left to start over.
And the guy doing the rear wanted a lot of junk in the trunk.
I have both an 04 Commorative and 06 Vert and love both of them. Different rides and handleing with the Z51 on both. Like the A6 in the twisties but the MN6 is awesome. Can't go wrong with either. Both of mine are daily drivers with an 07 HHR for the shopping trips. I only have one problem with the C6....... I can't pry my brides hands off the steering wheel long enough to drive it very much..
The C6 has the HP and paddle shift A6 that made me make the change.
But when I look at the old pictures, that C5 was a lot more attractive. Everything just flowed together, and had the appearance of A truly well developed design.

Having said all that, I still wouldn't go back to the C5.
It is that much more exciting to drive a C6.
