I've been looking at a C5 or C6. Currently have a 87 vert that is sold. Has anyone out there had both and how would you compare them?? Not that much of a price difference to me. Might even go with a new base model. I really don't like all the toys. Any input would be appreciated.

I just sold my 2004 C5 and bought a 2007 C6. As much as I LOVED my C5 the C6 is superior in every way. I can't get over how much better I like this car than my last one.
I have had a 2002 Vert auto and 2004 Vert 6spd. I now have a 2005 Vert 6spd with Z51 option and love it. I really like this car a lot and would not go back. Get the C6!!

I owned a C5 convert, and now drive a C6 vert.
The C6 has the HP and paddle shift A6 that made me make the change.
But when I look at the old pictures, that C5 was a lot more attractive. Everything just flowed together, and had the appearance of A truly well developed design.
The C6 looks like the front, sides, and rear were designed by three different people, who never got along well together. As a result they didn't know what the others were doing. A fourth person was brought in to try to pull it all together, but he committed suicide and there wasn't enough time left to start over.
Having said all that, I still wouldn't go back to the C5.
It is that much more exciting to drive a C6.
As much as I like all Corvettes, I never really warmed up to the C5, so I refused to buy one. I waited until the C6 came out and do not regret the choice. I don't think you'll regret it either.

I resisted for a long time and finally sold my 1996 Polo Green vert for a 1999 AW coupe. I couldn't believe the huge difference. I then moved up to a 2003 Z06, WOW what a spectacular performing car. Once you've tasted that level of performance you can't go "back wards" but again I held off a bit before investigating the new C6. I finally caved after a test drive and I sold my 03 Z06 and ordered a MR 2006 Z51 M6 coupe.
Looking back it just seems each generation gets better and elevates the Corvette to higher and higher levels of comfort, performance and style.
If you can afford it buy the new C6 and don't look back.
Thanks for all the input. I'm going for the C6. Now I need to decide on a new base model or a nice used one. May wait until the 08s are out and get a closeout deal on a 07. It's 30 and snowing in the Texas panhandle. Where is Al Gore and his global warming when you need him??

Good decision. I had an '03 Vette and my '05 C6 is a way better car in absolutely every regard.

When it comes to Corvettes buy the latest model you can afford if your buying it for a driver. My problem is I don't seem to get rid of em. I still own a 91 L98 Quasar Blue coupe, a Red 91 ZR1 #2039, and my latest an 07 AO coupe. All great cars in their own rights. Good luck with your decision.
i've had a c5 coupe and vert and a c6 coupe and vert also , the c6 is better in every way power, speed interior handling, interior.the c5 was a real good cat the c6 just better in every way. you can't gowrong with either but the 6 is a better car
