Has anyone had their hood and tail badges removed and the holes/surface refinished to make it flush and smooth, like the emblem was never there? I think that would look awesome, but I don't know whether it's possible with the fiberglass body panels.
Also, has anyone gotten a complete original color repainting from the dealer? Wondering what it will cost me when I get to 40k miles and want my car to look new again.
Do you think I can get this buffed or sanded or whatever without getting the whole bumper refinished? Dealer wants $600 to repaint the entire front fascia.
You could try using a medium type abrasive, like Meguiars Medium Cut Cleaner. then try a Swirl mark Remover to get rid of any left over scratches.
HOWEVER, BE VERY CAREFUL The clear coat on these cars is very thin. If you break through the bumper will have to be repainted. Based on my own experience matching the LMB, is going to be very tough. The hood and fenders are all different subtle shades of blue.
My car has been completely repainted with a simple rear bumper and fender repalcement. There was no way the body shop could match the pathetic paint job from the factory.
My paint was even different shades within the panel, there was no way they match from panel to panel.
My paint job ran around $10K

Had every panel repainted (due to sandstorm damage) -- off the car, stripped bare to avoid masking, new weatherstripping, color sanded, three clear coats. Came out beautiful. $7,500 paint and labor plus parts.
This is without any polish or wax -- fresh from the painter. Oh ... I didn't have it done at a dealer.
looks so much cooler without the emblem. If only we could photochop in real life huh? Bam bam click done, no $800 weeklong wait at the Dealer, god that would be nice.
