State LEO for 20 years and you'd be surprised what cops can afford now days. This is my 7th vette so I doubt that was the officers’ reason for the citation. As for colors I usually preferred YELLOW because they stood out in the crowd.
Seriously doubt the color or the type of car has much to do with most citations issued by most officers. In fact I was more likely to stop a POS that was speeding because I found more issues besides speeding. I tended to cut more slack to drivers of high performance cars if the truth be known.
There are plenty of active and current LEO’s on the forum so perhaps they’ll weigh in about the great “COLOR MYTH”………..
Shouldn't the speedo over read slightly with time, as the tires wear and get smaller? With older and smaller tires aren't we actually going slightly slower than what the speedo says?

'cthusker' is right on with what cops and their spouses can afford. My husband is police and like cthusker, he's "more likely to stop a POS that was speeding because he'd find more issues besides speeding". It's all about the p.c. for more to bust on and 99% of the time there's more to bust on a POS than a new Vette. It's just a fact that a Vette will draw more attention for speeding than your average sedan or suv and when speeding tickets are needed for a county, you're just driving through at the wrong time if you're in a Vette.
Ok so God would do 45 I'll give you that one, But I have a Bel RX75 installed ( $1500 ) one of the best on the market, and I have 20/20 vision??????? I dont think he likes RED Vettes. I will go to court and try to get it dropped to a non mover and pay them there money, I will let you know how I make out.

Sorry to hear about the ticket, I think the cop wishes he had a vette like yours.
How bad a fine was it?
If ya' don't mind me asking?

No such truth about the color myth. I pulled over anyone who deserved to be pulled over.Usually there is more than just speeding that pissed me off.Its the recklessness of somepeople while speeding that urks me.Cops dont pull over sprots cars only.
As to my reason for 83 in a 70, I followed a moving road block of a mini-van and an S-10 at 55mph (in a 70) for about 15 minutes. When I got on the mini-vans bumper he gave me the finger as he cruised at 55 purposely trying to keep myself and 5 other cars from passing. Bad part was the cop was literally on the next hill as I finally passed the van. Oh well, things happen....
Dude, been there and done that. I was just a little youger than you...about a month from college graduation. There I was, cruising lawfully down a dark two lane highway in my brand new Chevy 2dr HT, and I come up behind some old 2.5 ton truck barely making 40 and totally obscuring any forward vision.
I finally get a stretch with no cars coming and no hills, and I put the hammer down on my brand new Chevy. I get right alongside this DA and the stripe goes to solid double yellow...aw, what the hell, nobody out here but me and him, I'll finish the pass. I had barely gotten around when here comes some middle-aged, passed-over DPS officer that was diligently watching that no-passing zone...he was not a happy camper. Like you said, things happen...and I got a life lesson.

There you go...he lets you know that he sees no front plate and he didn't cite you or rag on you! Not a bad dude after all. I'm pretty convinced most of those DPS guys don't care if you have a front plate or not.
Some cops will target cars like this, and let faster drivers go by in "plain Jane" cars. Those kinds of cops are officially known as "dicks".
Not in the part of the country where I live - I usually see the "plain Jane" cars pulled over and rarely any sports cars. It should be noted, however, that I don't include rice rockets in the sports car category.
The speed violation is the probable cause to stop - - -how much they're over, prior record and the driver's attitude has always had a significant determination in what happens after that.
If the violator's got an attitude and is disrespectful, then they get every cite that's coming to them.
And the instant on features of the newer radar - -compared to the radar head I hung out the back window when I was a rookie-- will render those $1500 detectors and jammers useless all day long.
I doubt very seriously that color or brand of car had much to do with the sitaution....sorry you got stopped - - hopefully some type of traffic school is available as an alternative to points on your license.
Good luck- even for a former LEO here in AZ they're more likely to mail you the fine and your picture from the photo radar - - -and there's no chance to ask a brother for a break!
I can afford one, they are not out of reach. As a matter of fact, I am on my fourth Vette.
97,02,04 Z16 and now this C-6 so they are not for the filthy rich.
I have been driving for 22 years and received three tickets...all for 45 in a 35. The most recent was in our Subaru Outback, on a four-lane road with my in-laws in the back seat. Sometimes folks get tickets because they are truly driving dangerously; sometimes they get tickets because of 'targeted enforcement'. Oh well, I was breaking the law in every case and went to traffic school all three times.
Now that I have a Vette, I will see if my ticket frequency changes.

The portable GPS that I mount on my dash registers speed in tenths and it has never been more than 1 mph different than either the HUD or the gauge. It usually reads between the two.
Exact same story from me using a Garmin Quest II portable GPS.
Good one! OK, GOD is cruising the speed limit in His Vette (because He can read his HUD and doesn't need reading glasses like at least one old fart---me---on the CF), going by the nice leo. What color is the Vette?!
