I'm PISSED, got a ticket today from an officer that must not like Vette's I got busted for going 57 in a 45, I am absolutly sure my HUD read 51 as the officer passed me, now my radar det did not make a sound until he had passed me? Everyone and there brother goes 55 on this road, GOD would do 55 there, when he got back to me he informed me of my speed I politly explained what I had checked my speed to be and his reply was your display is not accurate, then continued to walk around and smerk as he looked over my car. This is my first Vette so I dont know ! Does this happen to Vette's, has any one els noticed a " Inacurate display " or was this dude just in a mood to crack on me.

Even at 51, he could technically nail you for speeding if the limit was 45...heck, even 46 could get you a ticket. Hope it is not the car. Or the color. Everyone always talks about red being a cop magnet.
I would chalk it up to bad luck. There are some online traffic schools that my buddies have gone through and not had to sit in traffic school all day.
I doubt it's off that much. Most members report about a 1 mph difference between the speedometer and HUD reading. Our town has numerous permanent radar displays showing your speed and I am always right on.
Need some more info to go on...
Was he a rookie?
What off-brand detector do you have?
Did you have your reading glasses on when checking the HUD?
PS I think GOD would be doing 45mph.
Sorry about the ticket. I hate the H--- out of them! Waste of good money.
Ok so God would do 45 I'll give you that one, But I have a Bel RX75 installed ( $1500 ) one of the best on the market, and I have 20/20 vision??????? I dont think he likes RED Vettes. I will go to court and try to get it dropped to a non mover and pay them there money, I will let you know how I make out.

I would doubt your speedometer or HUD display is in error more than 1 mph +.
Red Corvette owners know...if you're in a group of cars going over the posted limit, the red Corvette will be the one that gets the ticket.
I own a red Corvette...it sounds rather 'aggressive'....my license plate is "2 QWIK." My policeman friend looks at my car and smiles....he says "You're conspicuous." Go figure!
Good luck fighting your ticket. If you have an option to simply take 'driver's education' for a day to make your ticket disappear, I would suggest you go that route. Hopefully it won't happen again but I'd save the effort to fight a ticket for when you need-to....for when driver's school is not an option.

The portable GPS that I mount on my dash registers speed in tenths and it has never been more than 1 mph different than either the HUD or the gauge. It usually reads between the two.

there is a greater chance of his speedo being off than yours.
i too received a summons for exceeding the speed limit, not too long ago.
i spent the $65 to have the speedo calibration checked. guess what ?? it was dead on all the way up to 70 mph, since there aren't any speed limits greater than 65 mph here in va. they stop checking at 70.
Others have reported slight inaccuracies between the HUD and speedometer. Nothing more than 1 or so miles per hour however (difference between rounding in analog sweep vs. digital display) Your's is the first that I've ever read with a 6 mph difference. Are you sure that you just didn't mistake the 7 for a 1? Sorry about the ticket, sometimes the price we pay for driving a high visibility car. They just draw attention (even the wrong kind sometimes.)

Sorry for the bad luck.
I just happen to read an article in the daily paper yesterday about local speeding. The article claims there was a law passed in Florida that forbids a LEO from writing a ticket for up to 6 mph over the limit. They can stop you, issue a warning, and inspect for seat belt usage, etc, but not write a speeding ticket. Needless to say, the cops are pi$$ed about this, but it was passed to protect drivers against speedo error.

So far I have been pulled over two times since I got my c6 (silver) in November.
1- traveling through a 70 to 45 speed trap first trip with the car after having it two weeks. Only car to get pulled over. Asked teh cop if he would have pulled me over if I wasn't in a Corvette, and explained I had not received a ticket since 1997. His response..."its like fishing, some you keep and some you thorw back!"
2- two weeks ago in my Grand Cherokee, Texas DPS, I was speeding, no doubt - 83 in 70. But, the weird thing is my insurace has both my Jeep and my vette listed and the trooper made a kind of snide remark about me having a vette and asked me what I did. I guess being 28, I am not allowed to have two cars or vette at that matter. Needless to say I got a ticket.
I know DPS guys give tickets almost everytime, but I have had my share or warnings and been able to steer clear of tickets. Since the vette, it draws their attention even when I am not driving it!

83 in a 70??!! Well, heck, there's your problem...you haven't figured out what causes speeding tickets yet! You woulda' been all right out between Ft. Stockton and El Paso where the limit is 80mph.
No DPS officer is going to let you slide at 13 over; if he's clocked you and stopped you, yer going get a ticket...don't matter what kind of vehicle you own or were driving. His snide remark probably meant he was satisfied that he had you pegged as a habitual speeder since you own a Corvette...thanks for reinforcing the Corvette stereotype in this LEO's mind.
I don't disagree with the ticket, but I thought the reaction was weird. Actually, after we got past the having a vette thing, we talked a while about the type of law I practiced and eventually talked about the low price of vettes compared to the SUV's these days and my rational for having both a jeep and a vette and being able to afford it. I would say by the end of the conversation he probably knew I was ok and didn't speed excessively. I have no complaints about the ticket, just the initial reference to having a vette.
As to my reason for 83 in a 70, I followed a moving road block of a mini-van and an S-10 at 55mph (in a 70) for about 15 minutes. When I got on the mini-vans bumper he gave me the finger as he cruised at 55 purposely trying to keep myself and 5 other cars from passing. Bad part was the cop was literally on the next hill as I finally passed the van. Oh well, things happen.
Same thing in the first case, after he gave me the ticket we started talking about how hard the vette is to clock without a front license plate. Actually had a good conversation and went over the front end of the car quite a bit.
In the end, I don't think I am leaving a bad impression on the cops for other vette drivers...
