Why is it that

But to me a Corvette is a Corvette. I don't care if it's an automatic, manual, a new smg if they ever decide to offer that versus a slushbox, or a cut out in the floorboard fred flintstone style. It's a Vette plain and simple. So drive and enjoy it and quit worrying about what others say!
Different priorities and preferences, here are some:
fastest 1/4 mile (advantage auto)
fastest track (advantage manual)
fuel economy (manual for most cars, I think...)
always holding a cup of coffe (automatic)
have only one leg or arm (automatic)
other members of family don't know how to drive stick (automatic)
always sitting in traffic (ummm, for me manual, but most others auto)
frisky exhaust sounds (manual)
like to hold girlfriends hand (automatic)
don't ever want to replace a clutch (automatic)
fun factor (manual)
more control over the car (manual)
never getting over a highschool girlfriend who told you that she loves guys that drive manuals (manual)
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Personally I couldn't give a rats *** what people think. I would never buy an automatic Corvette though. Doesn't float my boat in the least. Maybe it would be good if they only made them in automatic though...then I could have saved my money instead of blowing it on a Corvette.
"It's not a real Corvette if it is an automatic"
"I wouldn't be caught dead in an automatic"
"If I can't row the gears, I wouldn't want one"
It's not just here. It's any performance oriented car site.
Is it because they are really autophobic and can't even handle the idea the someone else might be a, gasp, autoexual? Is it that they secretly desire to cross over to the other side and try their first autoexual experience?
Is that why the A6 has the worthless paddles? To give the autophobic driver something to play with?
Is it that they are really in the closet and can't admit that their daily driver, the car that they don't let any other Corvette owner see is actually an, gasp, automatic. Is the Corvette their beard?
Is it really because they actually drive a CVT!

Aren't I?

Could you get a manual in the 427 435 hp in 1967. No
Can you order a manual in the Z06. No
How about original Z28 Camaros? No
I don't care to argue about it. Some people love autos in performance cars. I personally think performance and automatic are mutually exclusive. that's all
Re: the auto vs manual, former Indy champ Rick Mears said after he took one of the first automatic C5s around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a test drive, "I can't shift faster than that computer" referring to the computer-controlled auto. So, to each his own. People who bash others for what they don't have are simply showing their ignorance.
Both could reflect on one's maleness.
But there are so many graphics choices these days, many times they won't line up or make sense.
I change mine frequently, 'cause I just don't know who or why I am!
Years ago my old Firebird and Camaro would probably have had to stay in the garage all winter if they had automatics; stick shift was much better at slowing down on icy pavement by downshifting or merely taking your foot off the gas pedal. I remember my parents' cars that would go 30 mph as soon as you put it in drive w/o even touching the gas pedal. I hated that when the roads were bad and vehicles in front of me were sliding all over the place. And, it used to be that you had to pay hundreds extra for an automatic for the privilege of getting slightly worse gas mileage. When I was young and poor, that was definitely important.

But is that a flaw in their personality?
Maybe not.
