13000 miles 06 A6 vert and rear end is yelling at me again for 3rd time. Going in next week for new clutch packs. Anyone know is they are using a better replacement material?

At one time (early 2006) the fibre clutch disc where going to be replaced with carbon cltuch disc. Not sure if that occured?
...And yes, my car still leaves 2 very black strips of rubber when doing a burn out. Tom
If this is truly a cure with no adverse side effects, I wonder why GM just doesn't do it. It makes sense that the extra friction modifier additive would help keep the clutches quiet, and apparently a lot of dealers had been simply dumping in extra additive anyway... even though not specificed by GM in the TSB. I'd think there would be a good reason that GM would not specify the use of extra additive... because it would be SO much cheaper and easier for them to go this route as opposed to changing clutch packs etc! If and when my differential noise comes back, I think I too will try adding a bit of extra additive after another flush.

Exactly! So what is the issue with these clutch packs? Are they defective? Are they subject to failure with too many burn outs? Why do some make noise and the majority don't? I don't understand this issue. Please someone advise.
I've never had any problem with the differential on my 2005. As a matter of preventative maintenance I just changed the transmission fluid to Royal Purple. I planned to change the differential fluid to Royal Purple but now I'm wondering....should I leave well-enough alone? If it ain't broke....

According to the brand quality engineer, 2 bottles of the limited slip conditioner would decrease the effectivness of the limited slip clutches.
