Maybe I should give my dealer a chance they've always been honest with me. I might wait 3 weeks and if they don't get an allocation I'll go to a big corvette dealership.
Should I get on two lists and just cancel one when one goes through?

Yes, I would get on two lists. Tell them you will give them a deposit once you have a confirmed allocation assigned to your order.
