At end of day in the heat my coupe's windshield header makes cracking noises big time - really loud. Really surprised me in $45k car. Car has 10k miles on it. Is this common and correctable?
It is either the latches or the top itself "popping" loudly. Mine was the top popping, and it led to a replacement top being ordered (and still not installed 3 weeks later).
All of the above. I'd apply silicone, replace the plastic guides and see what happens. If the stress noises persist, have the dealership inspect the roof panel for delamination.
I had my roof panel replaced and the adhesvie/foam fix performed over one year ago. I've recently started hearing more pronounced stress noises when traversing uneven terrain at slow speed. I too will be applying silicone and replacing the guides before seeing if I need to have the dealer re-check the roof panel.
