Default Easy Entry/Exit

Does anyone know how to get the seat to move to its driving position, besides hitting the memory button? On my C5, as soon as I inserted the key in the ignition, the seat moved to driving position. Its very annoying to have to hit the memory button everytime I get into the car. I have manual transmission, and with the seat all the way back its awkward to get the clutch pushed in all the way. It would be nice if the seat moved forward as soon as the drivers door is closed.

You could have bought an automatic. The seat moves to the driving position as soon as you touch the start button in the auto. With the manual, you have to hit a different button, the seat memory button, to get it to move to the driving position before attempting to start the car. This is a safety feature. GM doesn't want the seat moving while you're trying to hold down the clutch and start the engine.

As for your idea of having the seat move forward as soon as the door closes, that might work well some of the time, but I can think of several cases where I wouldn't want the seat to move until I got properly settled in. Having to take some deliberate action to have the seat move seems a good idea to me.

The operative line here is where you said "On my C5, as soon as I inserted the key in the ignition". You don't put a key in the ignition on a C6. On a manual transmission car, they don't allow it to move when you push the start button - I assume it has to do with your ability to push the clutch in.

What happens if you just push the start button to acc? Will the seats move then?

Default A related question

I can't get my seat memory to move the seat back when I shut down and want to exit. I always have to use the button on the seat. Is there some trick to doing this?

Are you in reverse with the parking brake engaged? Assuming it's setup correctly, when you open the door the seat should move-back and the steering wheel should go forward.

If you have the Auto Exit Recall programmed via the DIC, it should do it automatically when you turn off the engine and open the door. See the 2005 owner's manual, page 2-67. I think you do have to have the parking brake set.

If your vehicle has the Auto Exit Recall feature and it is
turned on in the DIC, automatic seat and telescopic
steering column movement to the exit position will occur
when you use the keyless access transmitter to
unlock your vehicle or when you turn the engine off and
open the driver’s door. See “Auto Exit Recall” under
DIC Vehicle Personalization on page 3-67 for more
information.

A lot of people forget the parking brake has to be engaged.

I have a 05 vert manual and mine works ok. Check with your DIC that all settings are correct for the seat to work
Try REPROGRAMING your exit possition. Set to where you want everthing to be push & hold the middle button WITH THE SEAT BACK till it beeps twice. Sometimes a simple reprogram works wonders (not always, but sometimes) As I had 5 DBS attacks( now fixed I hope) I learned a lot about the car .

Default Set the Parking Brake?

I know I've got it set in the DIC correctly, but, hmm, you might be onto something there. I never set my parking brake. Gotta go try it right now. Will report back.

Default Son Of A....

Yep, I just needed to set the @#$% parking brake for it to work! In the 6 months I've owned this car, I never knew the parking brake had to be set before the Auto Exit Recall worked! Thanks guys! RTFM, right?
