Vasta, on to your second question. My recollection is at the end of the 2005 model year. The 2005's had them, the 2006's, or '07 did not. I'm not sure why. To be perfectly honest, I suspect it was little more than to save a labor step across the 35,000 units that roll down the line each year but I'm not positive.

While (as an ambassador for the NCM) I find MNVette's answer interesting regarding when they stopped, It is not quite accurate. I purchased a build sheet for my '97 C5 from the NCM in 2001. They continued putting them in the C5's through the 2004 model year production. While they were in a very inopportune spot to retrieve as you needed to remove the entire front fascia and extract it from behind the bumper inside the front cross member, they continued to do it while the NCM was selling the replacements.

Like I stated earlier it's no big deal, just a little piece of Corvette trivia.
