Default Buildsheet Question?

Does the factory put a buildsheet in our C6's?

If so, where is it?

No, I had to order mine from the NCM.

I ordered a laminated window sticker as well.

No, there's a sticker in the glovebox with the codes, but no build sheet. The build sheets are no longer put in the cars. You must order them from the NCM.

The factory is not currently putting the build sheets in the car.

They take them off of the car and throw them away as the car goes down the line.
I did the Buyer's tour and was able to get three of them from my car before they were tossed.

I didn't think they put them in the car either, but I figured one of you would know for sure. Here's the second part of my question: When did they stop doing it and why?

Just to let people know, I ordered mine from the museum right after I got the car. I'm not looking for one, just interested in Corvette trivia.

I did the same thing with mine. I supplied the VIN number and they did the rest.

I think everyone here answered the question of "why did they stop doing it?". Answer - to support the NCM and give them a little income stream. I ordered mine from them as well, and I love the work they did. But, GM could simply leave the paper in the car.

I didn't ask why, I asked when.

Again - same answer - when someone realized that the NCM could make some money off it. My bet? Right around the date the NCM first started offering sheets for sale.

BTW - your question ALSO asked "why."

Sorry Mike, you're right I did ask when then why.

But we haven't answered the when part yet. As for the why, that is a assumption on your part. I was hoping someone in here -maybe somebody who did museum delivery might know.

Like I said earlier, this is know big deal, just interested in Corvette trivia.

Someone told me they where still in the C4's, maybe they stopped with the C5's.? I don't know.

Only going by memory here so could be wrong. I think for the first few years of the C5 it was in the car. it was stuffed in a very hard to reach place. (some disassembly required to reach it) Any body else just jump right in here.

On a slightly different note, I assume that GM no longer uses "Protect-O-Plates", correct? Anyone here know what kinds of info was on them, where they were located, when GM stopped using them, etc.?

The plant had been (2005) putting a rolled up copy in the front bumper reinforcement prior to putting the facia on. Not sure about today.

I did a little search and they used to come in the back of the warranty book. Or are you talking about the one attached to the car? That basically has been replaced by the sticker in our glove boxes, of coarse.

You have a good memory Mike.

Thank you, Lenny. So they still put them in our cars.

Anybody find one when they did their wide-bodies?

No, they do not.

The Build Sheet is a large piece of paper that contains all the codes for the various options and systems being included in a C6. It is, for much of its ride through the Assembly Plant, taped to the front of the car. At the end of the line, it is disposed of – unless you're on a Buyers Tour and can talk your tour guide into snagging it for you, which is what I did.

The original is in a safe spot, because it's the ultimate original documentation for the car. I also ordered laminated copies from the NCM for use at shows.

Just call the museum and they can get you a copy.

That's why I'm asking if anybody knows when they stopped putting them in the cars? Starting with the C6's or maybe earlier?

I did that right after I got the car. I'm not interested in a copy.
