Default Stereotype Vette Image....

IMO there has been a stereotype image for years about what vette owners are like. A lot of the BS involves what we wear when driving our cars. 90% of the time I’m wearing Levis, tee shirt, jogging shoes and a baseball cap. When it’s colder I’ll be wearing a black leather jacket of some sort. As for jewelry it’s a very plain wedding band, a college ring and a well worn Tag Heuer Carrera watch. Now I’ve seen lots of vette drivers and have yet to observe all the stereotype gold chains combined with flashy rings. I also don’t notice vette drivers wearing clothes straight out of the Soprano’s either! Don’t get me wrong because if you like those items that’s cool! It’s simply a personal choice the same as our cars. I’m simply saying I believe the stereotypical image of most vette drivers today is pure . So chime in and let us know what you usually wear when driving your own American Icon………

For the record I might be middle age, but I’m neither fat nor bald! Nothing wrong with fat and bald either…….

I don't give a flip about the old Corvette stereotype deal. I am an average guy with a family and a job and I happen to like the car.

But since you asked....
Dockers, polo shirt or button down, soft soled loafers, Ray Bans, Omega Seamaster, wedding band, black leather jacket in cool weather, Sig P239 .40 S&W in Milt Sparks VS II IWB. Just an average guy but more ample in stature than most!

Shorts, golf shirt or t-shirt summer.

Pants, long sleeves in winter.

But..........

I actually DO know the stereotype you're talking about, only WORSE.

Guys approaching 50, never been married, always talks about how some 22 year old is going to the Yankee game with him, and of course she's hot. He's a waiter, has been for life. All the young waitresses use him for games (Yankee season ticket holder), or nice dinners, or concerts etc.

Wears button-down shirts with the top 3 or more buttons undone, has the gold chains, with of course the Yankee logo gold chain , plus the gold watch and bracelet.

Now the worse...

He has a 1987 White Vert with red interior. Thing is, both visors, and most of the seats are held together with DUCT tape. Yep, silver duct tape.

AND....

He told me someone offered him $30k for the car.

Somebody really needs some duct tape.

I'm going to go take a shower. Feel unclean now.

I wear a t-shirt and shorts with flip-flops 99.99% of the time. I think that stereotype comes from somewhere besides Texas. I don't know anyone that views vette drivers that way.

I'm not fat, I'm not bald and I don't shop the Soprano collection. I typically wear blue jeans, t-shirt and tennis shoes. I do have a gold chain and the watch. I've worn the gold chain for 30+ years...it was a gift long ago from someone I loved who died. I've got a few watches...I like them. I don't need to impress anyone....I dress however I like.

Some days I dress like a cowboy and ride my horse.

OK....on Sunday I parked next to a black C5. Out walked a middle aged guy w/too much hair, gold chain, muscle shirt, and cut-off jeans. It was right out of central casting. However, his girl friend was screaming-hot ....so who are we to say!!!

Any car I've ever driven has some stigma attached....best not to order that option.
