Buddy of mine who has an '05 C6 coupe advised that after he got back from an oil change at a local dealership his automatic window up feature (when you close the doors on either side) no longer works. He has to use the power window switch.
Any body had this problem/have a solution?
Thanks.
If you mean re-indexing the windows...see the following:
After a power reconnect such as battery replacement,
the window index-up feature will not function until
the system is initialized. Once power is restored,
do the following:
1. Close the door.
2. Raise the window by pulling up the switch.
3. Hold the up switch for three seconds after the
window is closed. Release the switch.
4. Hold the up switch again for three seconds
and release.

I've done this on more than one occasion without fault in re-setting the window indexing and auto down feature.
Tell him he will have to reinitialize the window indexing every time the battery is disconnected, then reconnected. Tell him to mark page 2-17 of the 2005 owner's manual for the instructions provided above by Wayne O.

I've had a dealership partially unplug a headlight to replace a fuel pump. And loosen an oil pressure sensor when tracing a wiring short in the lighted mirror. And loosen a radiator hose clamp while replacing rear U-joints. All of the unneed "adjustments" were to get me back in for more work. They would loosen something just enough that it would soon fail on the highway. Does this give you a clue why I would rather have a root channel than go to a dealer for even the most trivial problem?
Without this forum the OP might have been looking at a few thousand in repairs to the "broken" windows.
