Default Museum Delivery

For anyone that did Museum delivery. How did you get there and where did yous stay? I was planning to fly up and get my car and drive home, but its looking like its gonna get quite costly.

Airport is no where near the place. so I'm guessing you fly in, get a rental car, then get a hotel. But you have to return a rental car, assuming you can't just drop it at the NCM.

I'm assuming there is a much easier way, maybe someone can enlighten me.

Nashville is the closest airport. Enterprise has a "one way" rental for museum delivery customers. You simply leave the car in the museum parking lot and they take care of the rest. There are a dozen or so hotels that have rates anywhere from $79 per night during the week to $149 in the Bowling Green area all within 6-10 miles of the NCM.

As noted, Nashville is close and an easy drive to BG. You can rent from any of the rent-a-car companies you can get a good deal with and drop it off in BG - with enterprise you can just leave it in the Museum parking lot, but all the others have offices within a few miles and the Museum will come get you after you drop off the car. Many hotels in the area - I used Hampton Inn because it was recommended on the Forum.

Overall, my girlfriend and I flew up from Florida, stayed two night (the night before delivery and the night after) and drove home (stopping for the night in Atlanta) and the total price was under $700.

Its a great experience and you will not be sorry. Worth the price of admission.

We caravaned from St Louis with a several friends, to be honest I can't recall where we stayed but if I could I couldn't recommend it.

It was nice to have 3 other close couples share our experience with us. I don't think we would have had as good a time we went by ourselves.

But no matter how your get there or where you stay you are going to love the NCM delivery.

Cheers

Tom

I did the Museum Delivery a year ago. Don't worry about how much it will cost, it's worth it. I thought I would have to drop my wife off in St. Louis or KC airport on our return tripbecause she's not much of a "road warrior". She surprised me and loved every minute of our cross country return trip.

Now instead of flying most places near our home for mini-vacations, we drive the vette!

The Country Hearth Inn is just across the street from the museum.
The Super 8 is located between the museum and the assembly plant.
There are lots of hotels down at Exit 22 (Drury Inn, Hampton Inn, etc).

I stayed at the Hampton Inn. They had a rate for the Museum. Perhaps others do as well.

I also live in Florida, and the wife did not want to fly so we did a one-way car rental. Stayed at the Hampton Inn south of the museum. The next day after the factory tour my museum guide followed me to drop off the rental car and brought us back to the museum for the museum tour and C6 presentation. The museum staff was great to work with and it was a day to remember. After my C6 was brought out front for pictures we left for our trip home in our new Corvette.

Just give the museum a call and they will give you all the details. We drove down, stayed at The Hampton with a museum discount. They met us at the hotel the next morning and then to the rental return before going to the museum. Could not have been any easier. Have fun.

Have a car service drive you from the airport to the museum. It was cheaper and way easier than renting a car. They met me at the airport, I didn't need to study a map, and it cost less.

I can't figure out why all these people rent the car.

From Nashville or the Bowling Green regional airport with that limo service?? If from BG regional, it should be real cheap.

I have done NCM delivery twice now and rent from Enterprise at the Nashville airport. We went sightseeing for several days since we had a rental car.

Because with my discounts at Avis it cost me less than $40 from Nashville to BG one-way ... suspect your limo was way more.

Not to mention which I got into BG the day before my museum delivery. With a rental we had a chance to explore the surrounding countryside and head out further than walking distance from the hotel for dinner the night before, and for a decent breakfast the morning of the delivery...

It was $60 from the Nashville airport. Do a search on google for "nashville transport company" - They were all around that price. You gotta do your homework!!!

The old timer met us with at the airport holding a sign with our name, we took some scenic shortcuts, and he serenaded us with stories of the area in his quaint, country brogue.

Sounds as if you did it the Right Way. Next time I do Museum Delivery I'll take your suggestion and avoid the rental car I had last summer. Thanks!

I stayed at the Super 8 when I visited BG earlier this year and I highly recommend it. It's a new facility, the rooms are very nice (got a suite for around $75/night) and the location is perfect. (Plant is behind, museum is across the highway & visible from the Super 8 parking lot.) Here are a few pics.

Call the Museum and tell them your schedule, then agree on a date to pick up the car. You can do it on a Friday for sure.
