Let me be clear, I know it's difficult, if not impossible, to diagnose an engine problem over the internet. BUT - with that said, it will be a few days before I can get in to the dealer, so I figured I would see if anyone can shed some light on this for me.
When I am between 1,500 and 3,000 RPM I can hear this increasingly annoying sound coming from the engine. It wasn't there a few weeks ago when I bought the car (used with 4k miles). It's hard to describe, and probably equally as hard to pick up in the video, but it sort of sounds like a clicking/spinning sound. I know that makes no sense. So just check the video and tell me what you think. Thanks.
In both videos, you can hear it best around the 3 second mark.
couldn't hear anything, seen a few where the harmonic balancer has come loose, it thats it park it and have it towed. seen one they drove until it came apart and tore up a bunch of stuff...
It would help to have the hood open as the sound insulation is doing its job. Depending on how much warranty you have left i suggest what's known as 'destructive testing'. You just drive the car hard until the engine either breaks or not.
Not to worry on the 08s. For some reason GM thinks the LS3 is too noisy for vette owners. It's going to have a specially fitted 'cap' above the intake with an air gap and fuel rail covers with special additional sound insulation. It's gonna sound like driving a Lincoln Town Car.
On my 2005 I had the lower puley fall off. Common 05 issue. After a while my car started to sound funny, turned out that because of the pulley my timing chain came lose and was making noise. Not good. Can't tell by your video what it is, just thought I'd put this out there seeing yours is an 05
I'm no expert trouble-shooting engine noises but it sounds a bit 'rough' to me. Get it to the dealership.

I think if your crank pulley or harmonic balancer "fell off" you would have lost your serpentine and accessory belts and your car would have over-heated in about 30 seconds flat...not too mention an immediate "service charging system" message.
Sounds like mine in the morning. Had it at the dealer last week and left it there for a few days, they said nothing wrong with it. Only a few months left on warrenty.

To the original poster; do yourself a favor and avoid following this sort of ill informed advice.
It could leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere, or worse, cause an accident resulting in potential personal injury or injury to others.
I suggest that you take the car either to your dealer or to a good mechanic for a proper diagnosis of your problem.
Driving the car hard until you bust something, in an effort to diagnose a problem, has to be the single most absurd suggestion for solving a mechanical problem with one of these cars I have seen put forth on this forum.

The crank pulley fell off and then was fixed. I didn't drive it around and hope it was just going to go away. The timing chain was a result of the crank pulley coming off. Timing chain happened after.
