I have only had my fabulous Vette 4 days, so I know it's early. I passed my first Vette, a dark blue C5, in downtown Bellevue. I waved, got no response.
Am I doing it wrong? What percentage of Vette owners wave?
Don't worry. Probably just didn't see you. Quite a few times Vettes have past me and I did not notice until they were out of my wave zone. Once I saw a Vette at the last moment, received a wave but I was shifting at that moment and by the time I got my hand up he was past.
Point is, wave when you can... and figure you'll get a response wave most of the time, but not all the time. And just because you do not get a wave does not necessarily mean the other Vette driver is arrogant, ignorant, rude or nasty.
I have noted though, most of the time I am the first to wave. I get the feeling that if I did not initiate the wave, there'd be no exchange of waves.
I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that go buy a Vette on a whim without any knowledge of the whole underground Vette scene, the forums, etc... such Vette owners I'm sure have no idea about the wave either. When you wave at them they are probably thinking, "hey, do I know that guy???"
Also, more waves in the Spring and Summer, less in the Fall & Winter. C4's are the worst waivers IMO. Not as many waves in the rain - could be a Washington issue. Don't give up!
Not trying to be sexist here at all, but I can't help but notice that 4 out of 5 women I've passed driving a Corvette don't wave, but 4 out of 5 males have.
Sometimes I don't get a wave from the guys, and I've noticed they tend to drive the older models...so I don't know if they just don't notice the new one or what.
I usually always wave...hell, there have even been a couple times I've been driving in my wife's car and I still wave at Vettes...
Not every Corvette owner waves so don't feel bad if you don't get a response...some don't see you...some can't at the time....some don't care....some are too important...whatever. Save the Wave anyway. If they don't wave that's their problem.
I'm probably about hitting around 60-70% this past week. Some weeks are better...some are worse.

Likewise, no intention of being sexist. We have a lot of lady Vette lovers on this forum. But I must agree. 99% of the "no wave response" comes from the lady drivers. Probably just enjoying the car, and not aware of the traditions. No big deal.
Other than that, I would say that most waves responded to... Or, they wave first!
Also observed, older generations, C3 and earlier, will always wave, and if you catch them first, are really enthusiastic in their response. C4 and C5 owners are good, but sometimes I wonder if they don't think I'm going to blow them off! I wave, and they respond... Few C4 owners wave first, but about 50% of the C5 owners wave first. 99% wave after seeing my salute.
By the way, I also find myself waving when driving my Jeep or riding my Harley!

I'm quoting myself, and not to steal this thread, but this reminds me of a recent trip with the club. About seven Vettes were traveling east from the Grand Canyon. A dozen Harley's were going west. Talk about waves and !!! They were going nuts! Of course, those of us in the Corvettes who ride, were admiring their iron.
That Harley group really showed their appreciation for America's other icon... So the wave can exist outside of the Corvette world.
My 3rd week in a Vette in the Seattle area. Weather has been poor all week so all the tops are on and the windows are up.
I live on the eastside (Sammamish) and commute into Seattle each day and I can't believe all the vettes that came out of the woodwork when the sun comes out (all three days of the year) and yes they wave and honk. If you see me in my silver coupe I will be waving......
