400/400 is the magic numbers.
However, 405 would be nice too.

As you've read it's 400 hp....and that's measured at the crank. Actual horsepower to the wheels (RWHP) is considerably less.

I believe the stock C6 Z06 is rated at 505 hp at the crank.

To be brutally honest, I'd prefer the rating to be RWHP but I guess GM needs to try and get the number to be a standard that can be stated regardless of the drive train combination selected.

When someone asks me what I have, I try and give RWHP figures so the power can be related to the conversation at hand.

400 is a nice number but I'm sure we are a bit shy of that in the number that is always used to compare specific cars. When I say 551 for my Camaro, I'm talking RWHP not bhp or FWHP.

So I quote a lower number than 400 when asked about my HP on the Vette. I haven't been on the dyno with this car yet so I SWAG a number around 360 RWHP for the car. Telling someone its 400 seems to be misrepresenting the actual power but I guess that's just me unless you add Fly wheel rating behind it.

My $.02

Elmer
