This happens alot lately. Driving in the next-to-the-fast lane on the MD/Va 495/95 beltway yesterday and notice what appeared to be a red Z06 coming up in the fast lane - it had the "fresh air intake" opening on the hood. So it pulls along side my car and the driver and passenger gave me the Wave and then pull ahead in the traffic. The thing was, it was a Ferrari!! And this has happened often in the past months. I get waves from Ferraris and Vipers. I'm just not used to it. I guess its 'cause we've moved up in the performance class
It’s a good thing! We can all appreciate each others cars and there is nothing wrong with that. You just have to wave back; it’s the right thing to do.
I try to initiate a wave at all Vettes, antique cars/trucks, hot rods and muscle cars just to acknowledge my appreciation for those vehicles, and I return waves offered by the driver of any vehicle.
If somebody waves at me I generally wave back but I usually don't wave at cars other than Vettes.
I was headed to a car show in my '65 last weekend and a fellow in a Viper waved. The only thing I could figure was that he had a Corvette at home, so I waved back.
I can relate to such things because I always wave to Corvettes when I'm drivin' mrs.savewave's ford truck.
Makes me think of the first time I drove a Corvette, back in '66. A co-worker loaned me his '63 Roadster for a lunchtime test drive and I came back absolutely amazed at how many people with Corvettes this guy (apprently) knew. Dozens of them. He just laughed when I told him and explained the whole phenomenon to me.
Another story: I was bringing a Ferrari back from San Jose to Seattle when I was in the business and was on the freeway in the fast lane, coming up on a school bus to my right. I nearly slammed on the brakes when the bus suddenly seemd to list heavily to port and seemed as though it might even tip over into my lane. As I passed the bus, I noticed all the kids had jumped out of their seats and had come over to the side of the bus to wave and point as I roared by. I am still chuckling over that one nearly 30 years later.
Isn't it fun to have something people appreciate and enjoy? Thanks for the memory.
