Default Sun-Visor Label issue

I have seen the after labels for the sun visors. I like them and planned on getting them. A friend of mine told me he had removed his OEM labels with a hair dryer, so I did the same. Now I finding out you have to place the after market labels OVER the OEM labels are they will not stick.

Can I purchase the OEM labels, will they stick?

I see no reason why they won't stick after removing the OEM labels.

Can someone post a picture of these aftermarket sun visor labels? Where do you get them?
Thanks,
Steve

Just trade visors with someone who wants plain ones. I'd trade you if we were closer.

If you can get the OEM labels, not sure why you'd even want them, how do you get those to stick first? Iron transfer?

Pardon the voices of reason here but you obviously removed the original stickers for a reason, why do you want new ones?

The decals were designed to stick to that kind of surface that's on the visor when the OEM label is still there. I suspect the visor material w/o the OEM label is just too rough.

Valuable lesson here - if you're not sure, do some research on the forum first. Believe it or not, the search feature here is pretty good.

If I were the OP, I'd just forget about putting any decals on the visors. If I still wanted labels, I'd get them for the ashtray or other places on the dash.

I'm guessing you're correct....after market decals will adhere much better when affixed over the OEM visor warning labels. The decals aren't expensive (you can even make them yourself on a computer) so maybe experiment to see just how well they stick (or not).

My homelink controls are on my visor so visors could be expensive just to replace. I've heard that some people removed the factory warning labels but weren't reall happy with the appearance of the visor after they did it. If your visors look OK maybe you could find someone that wants to trade visors? Many C6 don't like the look of the factory warning labels.

I did order visor decals from C6decaldesigns.com (a good guy to buy from). They weren't expensive, he filled my order promptly and the adhere over the OEM warning labels just fine.

Not the greatest photo but you'll get the idea:

visor decals from C6decaldesigns.com
I like these. I will definitely buy some. This is great. I never thought about those decals till I read this thread. It seems like a cool way to customize your interior.

Is there any problem removing them when I sell the car? Has anyone tried to remove one to go back to the OEM label?

Another question, do the labels come off in very hot weather? There are many 95+ degree days when the interior gets REALLY hot. Do these decals hold up to that well?

Thanks,
Steve

I have no interest in removing the visor labels. IMO they look OK ...

but I can't see how you were able to remove them (and I know many do).

The labels on my visor are so thin and adherent to the visor fabric that they look silk-screened on. Beats me how they'd come off.

Mine have been on my 06 coupe since last summer. Several 95 degree days and many 88-90 deg. days. They're just as tight as ever.

Granted that my C6 doesn't sit out in the sun all day, but it's in sunlight for up to an hour at a time.

Just trying to cover all possibilities. I like the customized labels where it says the build date and the "built for ....". When I sell the car someday, the new owner might want that removed. You never know. As long as it can without damaging the visor, thats ok with me.

I've had mine on with no heat-related problems yet. I really like the looks of the cutomized decals having my own info on them. Seems like an easy fix if selling would be to use a black sharpie to cover up your name neatly. Would be plenty hard to tell. You could also simply put the new owner in touch with Steve, the Forum vendor who does such a great job making these great mods!

First - you remove the OEM with a hair dryer. It heats up the glue and it makes it easier to remove them.

Second - The glue on the after market labels, is not the same strength. The guy who sells them tells you to NOT remove the OEM labels. Sorry I learned that after the fact.

I actually like the "no label" look vs the OEM bright yellow labels. I think the custom C6, born date, etc helps make your vette yours. IMO

Take care
