Default Trunk Alignment Problem When Closed

I have had this car about a month and just got the painted top replaced when I noticed the left side of the hatch has a huge gap at the rubber seal. I can only see 2 brackets at the top and the hydraulic lift on each side that would cause an alignment issue. The gap was close to equal all the way around the hatch when closed.

This looks like a huge manufacturing defect to me but I was hoping someone could help. 3 of the 4 rubber grommets show indentions in the plastic then the hatch closes. The 4th grommet on top of the side that does not align correctly shows no wear on the plastic like it was never aligned correctly from the factory.

It might be your new roof is not aligned, if so, try this link:

The new roof was tight which started me on this path but its not the new panel. This is the trunck hatch closed and having a large gap on the right side. Even with no roof panel on the car I still have this huge gap.

Take it to the dealer, it's a warranty issue and their body shop should be able to take care of the problem.

I snapped these while at the NCM today from a car that was on display. It appears it has the same problems.

The old body shop maxim says, "Hammer to fit, paint to match." But plastic doesn't respond well to the hammer. The panel will have to be heated until it softens, and then manipulated to remove the warp.
