Here is the question...I know the c6 has a listed top speed of 186. Is this the red line or is this governed. I had a conversatio this evening with an import guy . I thought it was a governed speed because due to road conditions and environmental conditions I think it would be difficult to say how fast a corvette would actually go. For example if you can do 186 on a perfectly flat surface..then you add a decline would the computer limit the engines power to maintain the 186. I know it is a wierd question but I like to learn...plus he said that he did't think that a C6 could do over 170mph. Let me know. Thanks for everyones knowledge.

To my knowlege it is drag limited, so in theory you might be able to go even faster down hill.

When the C6 was tested by GM, it did 186 on the track. After they folded the mirrors in and put tape over the foglights, it did 190. So I'd say it was drag limited.

add more power and go faster too. Add more downforce (front/rear) and go faster too. hence the Lingenfelter

Put the mirrors in and tape up the front and you might gain a mph or two also.

05, 06, 07 drag limited to 186 in 5th gear.

08 will apparently do 190, with the optional exhaust. Gives you an idea of how hard it is to go that fast, extra 36HP and you only gain 4mph

I've been 157mph in mine and that was in 5th gear. It gets going fast quick! I saw a video where a guy got his up to 186ish. The acceleration really starts to slow down over 170.

125 on my way home from work the other day; 155 with a friend and the top off. Haven't had the chance to really open it up.
Do you all realize how crazy and stupid we are for driving this fast?

I had mine up to 145ish the other day in fourth, but I've also done around 177 mph on my bike, so 140+ doesn't bother me all that much.
