We are going to order our 08 tomorrow - great feeling. This time, as a good hubby does, I compromised and will be going with the A6. I could insist on the manual but I really want my wife to enjoy the experience. We have had other Vettes so I know she will never learn to drive the manual. How about you other whip - er - I mean considerate husbands out there who have done the same thing - any regrets? Both are great cars, I know, but can clutch guy adjust to the missing pedal?

The A6 is great, especially if you do a lot of traffic driving like me.

There will be a lot of times you miss shifting. I know I do. But every time you are stuck in traffic it will be worth it And her thrill of being able to drive the car will help as well

Got the automatic so we can both enjoy it. I would rather have the automatic anyway, just lazy I guess.

I have to disagree with the others! I know so many guys who went with automatics "for the wife" only to find that she has no interest in driving the Corvette! They end up regretting their decision, and you might, also! Get what YOU want!!

Why not just teach her how to drive a stick?

I currently own a 2007 A6 Z51. I've got a 2008 Mn6 manual Z51 on order. The A6 is a great Daily driver in heavy traffic, but to me it lacks the driver involvement and skill level that really makes driving a supercar like the C6 really fun. I constantly yearned to be able to shift gears while driving my A6 and I've never owned a manual car in my life! So I ordered an 08' with Mn6 to bring the involvement and fun back into driving.

If its not too late I would change your order to the Mn6..You may not be as happy if you don't. Just teach your wife how to drive it..thats a bonding experience to be had with your significant other.

Either way you'll be happy..it's a 2008 Corvette afterall!

If you're a Manual guy, you will ALWAYS regret the automatic.
A L W A Y S. I know, because I bought my first car automatic, because my mom "might" have to drive it. Well, she never had to drive it, and for 5 years, EVERY time I stepped in my car I regretted the automatic.

But its your decision.

I made a similar choice and have not regretted it. That doesn't mean you won't though. Is she willing to learn to drive a stick? Is there another car she can drive or in a pinch, would she have to drive the Vette? Good luck either way.

My wife loves the car, but is afraid to drive it. I thought the paddles would satisfy the shifting urge. Not the same. Yes, I regret my decision....."never more" quote the raven.............

If you are truely interested in a MN6, DON'T get the Automatic. You will regret it.

My wife loves driving our 2007 MN6.

I ordered an '08 Z06 3 weeks ago 2LZ/Chrome/Black/Ebony (status now 3400 - TPW 7/23).

I let my wife know that I bought a Corvette and that she would be welcome to drive it if she wants.

She said "Right on, baby". She likes sports cars.

My girlfriend drives a Scion TC stick and she's looking forward to driving my MN6. Trade her in for a wifey who can drive a stick and you'll be fine. Just kidding...the auto may come in handy for ya. Enjoy the 08.
