You can buy Odor Eliminator at most GM dealerships (the Chevy dealer in my area does not carry it; the Cadillac and Pontiac dealers do). The Odor Eliminator is sprayed into the air intake vent and the odor is gone for a couple of months. I pay $17 a bottle.

I believe i have the answer.
Mine used to have that same smell. Plus, i was getting a weird noise coming from the cabin when the AC was on. It sounded like water hitting a hot pipe.
Well, it turned out, the AC Condensor hose leaving the car (right between the motor and the firewall - about mid car) was kinked badly. The water was coming back in to the blower fan causing all of that noise. Plus it started leaking all inside the car.
I had to drop the blower fan and empty the water. Plus unkink the hose.
Now, no more smell and no more noise....

It was very hard to spot that kink,,, take a flash light and look carefully.
