If they still offer Atomic Orange on the C7 when it comes out that is the color I will get. If not, the silver is my second choice...does not look dirty even when it is. Iwould get the red interior with the silver and the cashmere with the AO...just thought I would add that in.
Get what YOU want...you go around only once...we do a lot already for our wives...they usually get the color THEY want...and everything else....SMILE.
I love my silver. I think it's one of the easiest colors to keep clean.
One thing I always notice though, if I park next to any other silver car, the vette looks like a "dirty" silver and is never as bright as the other car.
GM should make a better silver for these cars! On Saturdays a bunch of us Corvette guys in Toronto hang out with the Porsche and exotic car guys and you can really see a difference in the silver on a few of those other cars. The Porsche used to come in this real nice silver which had a hint of blue in it. You can't really notice the blue hue to it until you see it parked beside another silver, and then it stands out a lot and makes the other silvers look very plain.
I still prefer metallic colors that pop though (like bright blues, metallic reds, greens, etc.) I like owning a color that makes people come up to you and say "I LOVE THAT COLOR!" That'll almost never happen when you own silver or black.

I have owned both a QuickSilver C5 and a MachineSilver C6. Both at the same time. The QS is a much nicer Silver, i.e., brighter and "pops" in bright sunlight! If anything GM should bring back QS.

Gary my 05 was Magnetic Red. Everywhere I went people would comment about the color and the car. I sold the car and bought an 07 in Machine Silver. Now I'm just another corvette. Both colors were easy enough to keep clean. I guess what I'm saying is if you want to stand out in the crowd go with the premium tint colors. Good luck.
If you're going to drive your car everyday, Silver is a dream!
I had a LeMans Blue 04 Coupe before the convertible, and I had to work hard to keep in clean. That's part of the reason I upgraded, so I could have a corvette I could drive daily without all of the daily work to keep it clean.
So, I am a daily corvette driver now. It always looks clean, whether it's been detailed or not. I can take a cloth and just do some simple wiping after a rain, and it looks spotless again without showing any streaks... And... the SLVLING is an eye catcher!

Keep driving and smiling!
I love the silver because it shows the lines and overall design of the car beautifuly... Some may not understand, but silver is actually a tone and colored objects play off ones emotions. A silver car draws ones attention exclusivley to the lines and overall composition without the distraction of color. This is the main reason automobile designers primarily use silver and or gray as the color (tone) from thumbnails to roughs and all the way through to mock up.

I loved my Magnetic Red/tan C5, but I always admired silver sports cars with red interiors. My 06' C6 is silver with a red interior, it was a tough combination to find, but I'm really glad I waited to find just what I wanted. Be patient and get what you want, you'll be happiest in the long run.
We old timers frequently fall back on a tried and true method when faced with difficult decisions like this. You have to ask yourself - "What would James Bond do in this situation?" In my case, we are talking about the old Sean Connery James Bond and the ONLY color he would drive is Gunmetal Grey (Silver)! Of course, with time taking its toll, Mrs. Bond (the former Moneypenny or was it Pussygalore?) would steadfastly insist on an auto so his left leg will atrophy over time but at least he will have his Silver Vette to be buried in! Good luck with your decision and your car - "g, jojog"
I was more concerned with getting exactly the equipment I wanted than what color it was, but I ended up with a silver Corvette. After living with it for several months, I really like the color.
Please excuse the terrible picture quality, but I needed to take a quick picture. I didn't have a chance to find a better spot:
Do you happen to have any more pics? Maybe some not in the shade?
Decisions like picking the colour of a new Vette is an amazing decision to make. I feel fortunate to even be in the position of doing so. No matter how you look at it, it is a win-win situation!
