I love mine and have never second guessed my decision. I find it to be a great car that has provided, and will continue to provide, much pleasure. I have found the quality to be great and the performance more than I expected. I am sorry that some have had issues but I would not even hesitate to purchase another.
The J.D. Powers survey you got within 30 days was for initial customer satisfaction, which addresses build quality. Other surveys are done for overall ownership satisfaction.
Yeah and it's funny how I got the GM survey about 3 weeks after I took delivery. My salesman stressed how important it was to complete as soon as possible it and make sure I marked everything as completely satisfied. I waited until about 2 weeks ago to send in while another warranty issue was being resolved. Had I waited until today, my answers would be different.
I'm happy for all of you that have had no problems with your C6. Hopefully mine will get resolved to my satisfaction.
I was considering an A8 but read way too many horror stories, particularly regarding corporate Audi's arrogance and utter unresponsiveness. There's no correlation between sticker price and reliability.
Generally, the Audi dealer network stinks and they get very little support from corporate. I guess thats OK if your car is perfect but heaven help you if its not. First and LAST Audi.
Lexus has it's share of problems too. The perfect car has not been invented yet. Lexus = All the fun and excitment of driving your living room down the street. Do those cars come with snooze alarms? Maybe when I'am 90 years old I'll consider a Lexus. But for now I'll take the super sexy and oh so powerful C6...warts and all!

The only GMs I'd own anymore have to be 35 yrs old or older. At least with those cars you EXPECT there to be issues. My LAST GM product was a CTSV that I got rid of 4000 miles on the odometer. What a POS.
My mom (who is 64) drives a C5 coupe (orig owner) and the thing is just falling apart inside like it was beaten it's entire life. Every car has its issues, maybe it's just me, but I have not had good luck with late model GM products. My dad has a Ron Fellows Z06, and I'm just waiting for that to start having issues also. His 06 Z06 sat at the dealer for 2 months waiting for a new roof. I had a 94 Coupe and that was THEEEEE biggest POS ever. Sorry for my rant. The C6s are beautiful and fast, but, uh, I'm done gambling with GM.
Some people have serious problems with their C6s. I think it's beneficial to hear from these folks as it allows others to know what to watch out for etc. I don't consider it disloyal or counterproductive to simply report what has happened.
But it seems everytime someone posts of problems someone else will come on and say how they have had NO problems. Like, in some way a problem free car cancels out the problem car? I don't see the point to these no problem posts. They seem to kind of throw it back in the face of the owner with the problems as if it's no big deal.
Well, serious problems are indeed a big deal if you are the one experiencing them.
IMO the fact that some cars are free of problems most certainly does not excuse GM for responsibility for those that do have problems.

And you bought a Ford because of their superior quality???

A 2006 Z06 doesn't have a detachable roof. So, what roof was the 06 Z06 waiting for?

If you think the arrogance is bad, you should check out the resale value on these things. A close friend bought a used one (not the current model) for something like $18K and figures he'll just keep fixing it as needed - not much so far - as long as he is capable of doing so. I believe he told me his A8 cost someone over $70K new. Aren't the new models like $100K?
I once had an Audi 5000S which was my first and last Audi. I don't really mean to sound like an Audi-basher here, but just what is the appeal of these cars? I mean - what? - all the quality and performance of a VW Passat without the stigma of a low price?
BTW, my C6 has so far been trouble free, save for a dim radio display which was fixed under warranty. (of course, I had to wait for parts, which I never had to do with my Audi... or my Porsches, et al).

Fact of the matter is, I've owned a late model F150, F250, and now the F450 to tow my GM vehicles around, and out of the three trucks, I have had ZERO problems with any of them. Repeat ZERO problems. I wouldn't drive a Ford car because for the most part they're all hideous, but I haven't had a single problem with any Ford trucks I've owned. I'm not loyal to any one brand, just whatever brand gives me the fewest problems.

Yeah, the Z06 is not SUPPOSED to have a detachable roof, but that's what my dad got with his car....an automatically detaching roof panel when it wasn't supposed to, along with hundreds, if not thousand of other owners that had the same problem.

You can throw Mercedes int that category as well. I could go on for days about my E55 I owned, and the way MB treats their customers who buy $95K cars, but that's another story for another forum.

Even BMW, a close relative has a 6 Series with a multitude of problems.

I can't speak for the 6 series, but I've owned two E46 M3s, as well as a 740. While they may not have been perfect in the reliability dept, they were pretty good cars and the dealer didn't treat you like crap. The newer BMWs I could see having more problems with the ridiculuos amount of electronics they put in them, but the older generations were fairly reliable.
My 2006 has had its share of "issues" - 3 DBS attacks before the reflash, a roof recall followed by a month long roof replacement, the clutch packs being serviced, and some small issues. Overall, I'd have to say this puts my C6 on par with other cars I've owed. Frankly, every Porsche I've owned has been a POS - if you think the wait for GM parts and repairs are bad, you should see what it takes to get a resolution from Germany!
GM certainly needs to work on its QC - no question. But, I'm still quite happy with my C6.
Only problem I've had is when I hit 186 mph one night on New Mexico Highway 9 between Columbus, NM and El Paso, TX. Up to 186 both my HUD speedometer and analog speedometer indicated the same speed, but after 186 the analog kept registering up to 196 mph but the HUD stayed stucked on 186. Other than that I have not had one bit of problem with my C6........ By the way, I also have beach front property for sale in El Paso, Texas if you believe the part of my speedometer.
I have had my 07 since last September. Just turned 7,000 miles this weekend. It has never been back to the dealer for a problem. (Can't say that about my wife's new Acura MDX) The one and only thing that is an issue is the way my roof pops and creaks. I will eventually figure that out myself. I might have even figured it out this weekend. But I am not claiming victory on that just yet.
I am very pleased with the car and can't wait until my 08 (TPW NEXT WEEK) gets here.
