Default Museum Delivery Question

For those who have had a museum delivery - what advice did they give you for the trip home / break-in? Thanks in advance.

My guide told me to vary the speed for 500 miles. This is for the differential. The book says to keep it under 55 for 500 miles. You will get lot's of advice and you will have make up your own mind. I followed the guides advice and after 15,000 miles the differential has had a clunking issue and the engine has no issues. Good luck.

My guide said not to use the cruise for the first 500 miles, vary speed. But try going 55 when the speed limit is 65 and everybody is doing 75. I just kept it between 65-70. No panic stops for the first 500 miles.

I did the same thing, but tryed to vary the speed until I reached 500 miles, then I put the cruise control on.

I did not opt for a museum delivery so I did not do the long drive home. My first several hundred miles was a combination of highway and city driving.

The brake break-in is critical.

I was very easy and light on the brakes for the first 400 miles.

My four-month old, 2,000 mile C6 has absolutely no break squeal.

I picked up my 07 MR coupe May 2 at the museum. They told me that engine speed is more important than vehicle speed. No WOT, keep revs below 3K and vary the speed (no cruise control) for 1st 500 miles. I have the MN6, and I also do not use the engine for braking (this was my choice, but I think it's a good idea since it keeps the engine load constant). I took the backroads out of BG, so that was not too difficult, and the scenery there is great. As I've told others, even driven with restraint, the Corvette is a great car. Enjoy.

I asked the question in detail to my guide at the museum, he said to vary the speed for the first 500, don't use the cruise but you don't have to keep 55 and under. As our trip was long coming back to South Florida, I just moved the speed around mostly between 65 to 75, then a few traffic back ups helped to for some lower speeds. Hope that helps.

Thanks, Folks - that 55 all the way back to Texas would be a bummer. I take it low RPM, no cruise, no downshifting or hard braking and vary the speed would do the trick - even if I go 50-65 MPH on the highway. Any other thoughts out there?
